    Marvel WGSH?

With the new DC Mattel line I am finding myself really missing the Marvel Megos and wishing/hoping someone finds a way to get these made. Here's my question, would you like reproductions and additions like the Star Trek line (sans Gorn) or would you like new sculps and costumes, as well as new figures like Mattel is producing (without loose bodies, turned in toes and goo on the inside of the package)?

I'm on the fence. I think maybe a little of everything would be in order. Would love to see the Thing with a full body sculpt and have the costume with the painted rocks removed. I don't think they should not touch the Hulk or Spiderman but I could deal with a corrected Captain America with a corrected costume and improved sheild (no sticker this time). Maybe a Falcon with, well, a falcon.

and of course whichever way they were to go bring on the bad guys!

They would need a 8.5" Hulk, shorter was dorkier. but they should remake the old ones and start new ones like mattel is doing.

We have to wait and see what Hasbro does. No one knows anything but them.

They did those ones a few years ago that were really great. Spiderman Origins(?) I think. I only got Black Costume Spidey but there were so many other awesome ones like Captain America and Green Goblin. But they were a little taller then Mego. But still awesome.

Either they will revisit the 9 inch line or retool the body for the 8 inch scale.

If they're 8 inches tall and fit in OK with the old Megos and the new Mattels, I'll be happy. Repros and new additions would be the bee's knees--but I agree with Orlock, get 'em close enough and get 'em done!

I like what Bif Bang Pow are doing with their 8 inch figures. They have the feel of retro Mego, but have very detailed head sculpts. I think this is the way forward and I would love to see Marvel figures made this way. Also, some classic Marvel art would look good for packaging. Oh yeah, bring back the Window box !

Yeah, Mego did a once in a lifetime thing when it united the big two under one banner.

Hasbro won't play ball with Mattel, or EMCE, so I don't forsee things changing. And I KNOW Disney and Warners have no love for each other, so that's a no-go as well.

we'll just have to hope they play ball and offer characters in a compatible style, because the days of having the same body, are over.
Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figures

It's all a question of whether Hasbro sees Mattel's figures doing well enough to want to do their own versions. They did the 9" DC figures as an answer to Toy Biz' Famous Covers 9 inchers, so there is a precedent.

The only thing that may discourage them is that neither the DC nor the more recent 9" Marvels did very well. Now, they may realize they missed the boat by an inch, and figure the true 8" Mego-esque feel is the key to success. I really do hope for something very similar, as it would be great to have the two universes in compatible figures again.

                      Repro then "fix"

Repro the old ones to get it going and then modernize them.

My son wants a Sinestro with a Yellow Costume like on First Flight. That looks awesome. And I can't understand why they don't make "Kung-Fu Grip" versions of the hands. That would rock.

I'm going to have to experiment with some Castaway bodies I guess. The bodies could use a bit of an upgrade like Castaway has done, from what I've read. I don't have a Castaway body but I may get some for my pending Trek Red Shirt Army.

But I don't see that Doc makes Red Shirts with no rank. I'll email and ask him.

If Hasbro did do a "complimentary" 8-inch Marvel line, that would be amazing! A pipe-dream, but amazing.

now to be fair.....we have this in 6" scale.

just not in 8" scale, which is what we're hoping for here.

I did some as a Kid. I may have done one for Sulu on a shirt that was already beaten up. Both got torn when I removed the rank. But for now, it is not a big deal. I may enlist help in the Fall when I have a budget for such things.

                              Thanks Bat.
