I once had a teacher that taught me that NOT using "I Think" before saying something creates a smug air of superiority, and an attitude of self righteousness.

of course I could've severely misinterpreted the initial poster's intent, but that's just the way I saw it.

better to remove all doubt than to leave someone guessing, I always say.

that said, I'm sure that many assume, probably somewhat correctly, that I am an A-Wad. It is unfortunate if you do, as I'm not hard to get along with, I just don't much care for people acting as if their opinion is the only valid one.

yeah, gauntlet length seems a small thing to get bent about, but it's a symptom of a much larger disease. One that can easily be seen by simply paying a visit to the Mattycollector forums, and spending a little time there.

it seems Mattel can't do ANYTHING right, however, it would also seem that no matter what Mattel releases, it sells out almost instantly.

and as soon as it does, invariably, the complaints begin anew.

so no, it's not the OPs opinion I take with exclusively, it's the whole mindset.Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figuresComment

Personally I'm leaving them as is, "fixing" them is taking away the charm of the retro look. You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie BanksComment

That depends, though, doesn't it? Mego Green Arrow had shorter gauntlets. Personally, I like the fix. Good job. Though I don't know if I'd perform it on the extremely rare "inverted head" variant GL. Comment

Well I cetainly agree that the cuffs look better shortened.

And while many here sing the praises of the "charm of the retro (MEGO) look", they seem to ignore a fundemental fact: MEGO themselves had moved considerably far away from these awkward design features by the time the line finally ended. They were representing gloves and gauntlets in a MUCH more sophisticated way than this (Re: Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Girl, Aqualad, Speedy, Etc.).

I've always been a little puzzled as to why MEGO purists seem to prefer the earlier, cheaper costume design aspects of the WGSH action figures (vinyl oven mitts, big ol' cuffs, lack of accessories, etc.) and not the later improvements that corrected these things.

Somehow, the later improvements are not considered charming or retro... even though they were implemented back in 1976.

Of course, all of this is only my opinion.I... am an action figure customizerComment

I like the mod. I would have taken it one step further and narrowed the cuffs at the wrist too. I haven't decided which way I'm going on mine, but I'm leaning toward replacing the cuffs completely. I prefer the Green Goblin/Shazam approach.Comment

the oven mitts look strange to me, especially when they made improvements as early as Green Arrow, so that he could hold his bow, and later they incorproated the larger, detailed, molded gloves.

but when it comes to the cuffs here on ol 'GL, I gotta say I like the way it was done.Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figuresComment

It looks better, but the glove tops are the main design aspect I really don't like on these. I realize there's only so many ways to you can do something like this in a mass produced figure, especially in an economical way, but they just seem to overwhelm the rest of the figure. I think the Shazam/Goblin approach might have allowed them to be a lot less bulky.Comment

The fact is this thread has some great info on how to fix your cuffs if you don't like em! Nice mod! I am undecided I might un-sew mine and replace em with castaway cuffs if the white ones come back in stock soon.No body takes pot shots at Lubic!
