Is it possible to get new costumes from Matell

I was just wondering if anyone has asked Matell for a costume repalcement. My main problem is the plastic snaps. My Green Arrow has a pin size hole in his stocking where the plastic snap was sewn and my Lex Luthor has a plastic snap that does not work because there is too much threading. I don't want to be trivial but if there is a chance I can get them replaced without buying a new figure, it is worth a chance.

for the Lex, you can just buy new snaps at any fabric store.
Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figures

Yep, just go to a fabric or craft store and get new snaps.
      It'll only cost a couple of $$$.

Truthfully as easy as it is to replace a snap, I have a broken one on my GL too, why should you have to. I would call Mattel customer service and complain. At $19.99 they can more than afford to make sure the product is quality. Just because we can repair vintage Mego uniforms, doesn't mean we should have to do it on new stuff. Auto mechanics shouldn't have to fix something on a brand new car just because they can. Call Mattel CS. If you can put a metal snap on there they can too. Which would have solved the problem in the first place. I don't see plastic snaps on Doc's suits because he knows what will happen. They break. Mattel knew too and chose plastic. Now they need to stand behind their product.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

It's not that I don't agree, but if given the choice between taking a trip back to TRU to exchange something, or worse, sending it back to Mattel for a replacement, whereas the alternative is walking over to my sewing box, taking out a new metal closure, and sewing it on, I'd rather just sew on a new one.

not that I disagree with your standing, you are completely right in the assertion that these should have been made with quality material.

but this is the same company that gave us Barbie, arguably the most long-lived toy there is (Yes, GI Joe is almost as old, but current Joe doesn't even REMOTELY resemble his original version, despite several nostalgic reissues).

that said, what's good for the Billion Dollar Toyline is good for WGSH, in the mind of Mattel.

of course, this is the same company that gave us decades worth of Die Cast Hot Wheels, and now only offers up plastic ghosts of former glory.

Me and my son just got some Hot Wheels yesterday at TRU.....they still make a lot out of die cast although they're not as beefy as years ago......as for the snaps..metal is definitely best and the cost difference has to be very very small but Mattel might use plastic for other reasons....maybe for safety reasons?

Kenner had the best and nearly ONLY customer service . You could actually send a broken figure in and they sent you a brand new one in the package. I got a uncirculated Plastic cape no hole punched Jawa that way in 1985!

ALSO you could send in and ask for a replace ment weapon and they would send you a set of every weapon from that movie. Did that with clothing too. They were awesome.

But Maybe you dont sew Then it isnt as easy as just buying a snap.

It always asks you dont return stuff to the store on the package but easy wins in business.

Maybe you'll spot something else as you exchange it.
