    More On Long Island!!!!

Found 12 yes 12 complete sets in Massapequa Toys R us! was in there about an hour, and watched kids bug their parents for them. One kid actually wanted Green lantern, but his mom told him he did not have enough $$$ he was short like $6, as he looked bummed between not having enough and having to settle for the infinate heroes set, I asked him if the $6 behind him on the floor was his he actually said no, it wasnt, and wanted to turn it in. I told his mom yeah I saw him drop it, and winked, (After discussing how these were also her brother's favorte as a kid she even called them MEGOs!) long story short: The kid got a Green Lantern. Mission accomplished Doc! I think ther revival may be a revolution!

    ps all stiched Lexes.
    Lantern is the outlined one,
and by the time we left, only a few Luthors, and Sinestros remained....... WAHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Someone once did the same for me at Korvettes when I was a kid, I was a two bucks shy of a maskatron, which i really wanted, but could not afford. (and he was there buying one for his kid) Time for me to return the favor, and to put a mego in a kid's hand, (one that was honest enough to deserve it too!) was worth every penny! as an afterthought though If i had not been chatting with the parent before hand, (she saw where the six came from) it would have looked awful creepy. BUT if she was trying to teach him about money savings and sacrifice, I hope it did not hurt the lesson.

This whole story would be a lot more believable if it ended with, "the strange man who tried to give my son money", reported to security and you quickly being "escorted" off the premises

That is a great story. Hopefully that kid will pass on the tradition 30 years from now when he is standing in a toy store aisle.

See, if Mattel could find a way to trim the price, they would be getting into more kids hands.

Great story! I love to hear stuff like that. BTW I miss Long Island, lived in West Islip for 36 years. Wish I could move back, stuck in FL with its sh1tty job market.

This is the kind of story that is great to read! What a nice gesture! When I worked at K-B Toys I used to give the kids free Hot Wheels cars....they loved it and called me "The Toy Man"!

I was at the Huntington TRU on Wednesday night and it was bare.

I was at Carle Place TRU on Saturday morning and it was bare.

I was going to drive to Douglaston, but my son Eddie was getting
stir crazy in the car - and I left my cell phone home.

As for dropping the $6 - that completely rocks! It shows kids that
                        magic happens.

That was a really nice thing to do....and I'm sure the mom knew how generous it was that you were willing to kick in the extra 6 bucks.....I can't wait for TRU to stock up on these(not just eight at a time) because most of the male TRU employees that I have talked to know what these are...."yeah... the new megos" as they call them....they tell me that they are fast becoming the hottest item in the DC isle

Doc, I hit Valley Stream Toys R Us, had them all..plenty all over the store. I found them by the registers, in different aisles. I was so excited...it was 1978 all over again.

They would come up with some moniker like "the Mego Molester". I just wanted the kid to have the Lantern, so I plead the 5th, and no bad press for the Mego name. as you sid, it magically appeared.
