do NOT try to boil and pop these new Retro figures

I purchased a second Green Lantern just a little while ago to replace the broken head on my first one. This time I made sure the water was at a boil and I left GL in the stew for a good 30 seconds. The moment I grabbed his head, even before pulling, I hear a 'poof'. From simply squeezing his head, 3/4ths of his neck separated from his head. I guess the neck stem and the head are not part of the same mold, because there's no way they could have ripped so cleanly and without any pull.

I don't know why Superman separated with no trouble, but GL has twice broken.

On the GA head I noticed the neck straining and looking like it wanted to rip as I pulled so I put it back in the water for a few seconds and tried again. I repeated this 2-3 times and the head eventually popped off ok. So you have to be careful. Once the water melts/lossens the glue let the head cool a few seconds and gain some strength back before you pull.
It's a crap shoot for sure.

Mine came off pretty easy. Sorry to hear about your luck. Maybe you're just too damn strong!

finesse not brute strength. treat it with surgical accuracy not toy destroying force. the head is hollow rubber and glued to a disk with a post on it. So the head is probably air tight with air trapped inside. squeezing it caused the head to pop like a bag full of air. especially after heating the air and making it expand. It's all in how you deal with it.

I don't think I'll rip the head off mine if I ever get one. They wont likely come out in stores around here and thus too hard to get to keep wrecking.

I've done several of these and haven't had any problems. Guess I'm lucky.

It's a single rotocast mold. Use the hot water to separate the glue from the plug but you need to remember that while hot the rubber is much softer. Wait for it too cool and pull softly making sure the neck is separating from the plug not necessarily just coming out of the torso. You can also just cut the top seams on the torso and pull the head out and re-glue it back together. Don't cut yourself.

PS I ripped a GL head too but only cuz I was too lazy to drag my fat *** out of the La-Z-Boy to heat up water.

If you ask me the quality control on these figures is very low.... When I opened my GA, his head snapped off while I was simply trying to turn it.
