That and why does it cause the figures to get tiny flat spots on their noses..?..
I know those and the oil residue wasn't visible when I got the figures.

mine developed over nightWhat I don't understand is why the drips seem to have appeared out of nowhere on the blisters of my figures.
I examined these pretty closely when I purchased them in early February and they did not have this drippiness that they're now displaying. The drips developed over the course of 6 weeks.

I think that would probably raise the price a bit, plus one would assume that this hopefully wouldn't happen again. My son's b-day is in June and I can now happily purchase. Thanks, Doc (and Mattel) for the quick response and customer service.maybe switch to a clam shell case mounted to the card, so the figures and be replaced in the blister, after drying and cleaning the bubbleLeave a comment:

Very good question Del, It's good to know what to expect for the 2nd wave....in reference to the oil thingy.

Thanks for the followup Doc. I still hope it won't look too bad on display. Does this mean that later waves won't have the same problem?Leave a comment:

My kids can start playing with them again. My 2nd Green Lantern's slightly saturated costume was air dried last nite. Good to know that everything is Alright!!! Thanks, Doc

Looks like I may have ripped my 2nd Green Arrow off the Card too soon.

Thanks for the update, Doc. I know sometimes we can take our toys too seriously around here... and you have been a saint listening to us complain about these figures. But in this case, I think everyone had a legitimate concern: what is that stuff, and are these toys safe? My son loves his Superman. I really wanted to make sure this goo was not a danger to my boy. I'm glad to hear this stuff isn't going to hurt anybody (or any of our cool action figures).Leave a comment:

dry up or get worse
Warmer air temperature and air circulation should, over time, dry out the
oil but it may leave streaks on the blister.
Maybe someone here will experience with silicone-based oils can answer
that question.
My guess is that these figures are expected to be taken out of the
cases and displayed in stores with moderate temperatures and good
air exchange, before being opened and exposed to the air - allowing
the oil to evaporate.
