Is there a chance of Dr. Mego getting permission to sell "his version" of the Mattel stuff?

I would be surprised if Mattel would allow him to compete with a product line that he is assisting the company develop. I would assume he would be restricted from doing that by a non-compete/non disclosure agreements he is governed by. But this is all conjecture by me.

no, but if mattel sees we are all ripping apart out figures and slapping them on Doc's emcee bodies, they may reconsider using that body.

That's completely understandable. I think I read somewhere that you were working on making a body that matched the Magenta color for Sinestro. Are you going to try and make "color correct" replacement bodies for all new Mattel Retro Action characters??
