    A clue to future waves?

In addition to collecting Mego, I also collect original comic art. On a site I frequent, I came across this:

Look familiar? It's from the back of the Wave One packaging.

    I also came across this:

    [/IMG]

As well as some other classic styled images of some announced figures...and some other possibilities that at least spark some speculation in my mind.

Check them out here, under DC Style Guide & Licensing Art below, mostly used by Mattel for toy packaging, shirts & other products
    :

If, and it's a BIG if, this holds up I am very excited about the direction of Mattel Mego. Batgirl and Catwoman are exactly the designs I want. Poison Ivy to be paired with Robin, maybe? Or Joker? I'd prefer a Bronze Age Kara, but this style would work too. Wonder Woman and Cheetah? Wow. My guess is that the Garcia-Lopez pieces are the probable Mego art.

BTW, this dealer is going to be adding 150-200 MORE licensing pics over the next couple of days! BTW, Brainiac, Mongul, Metallo, and Zod are much older pieces, and not likely to be associated with Mattel Mego. Check out those marked NEW for the best bets.

If it is, I'm overjoyed, that is the Catwoman I'd like to see and Batgirl looks great too that way.
However, I can't see them doing Brainiac that way, but Joker on the other hand, bring it on. Great sculpt and cool looking cane.

I wonder what color the Batgirl is? Black suit, gray, or TV show purple/yellow? I'd guess gray. Surprised the Cheetah look isn't Challenge of the Superfriends style, but I'm interested to see the final figure if this is it.

That would be a solid wave. Just wondering if Mattel has a female body ready to go yet.

That sounds cool. I'm still hoping for a removable helmet Hawkman.

I'd bet they do have the female ready. No Wonder Woman just yet...but I really believe these or at least Catwoman will be out this year.

I'm not worried about them using the modern Brainiac or Zod pictured on the site--those have been for sale on the site way before New Mego was even announced.

I asked the dealer specifically if he had any classic Brainiac, or Bizarro style guides in the stuff he's going to be uploading and said he didn't at this time, but that Garcia Lopez has a lot more that he's going to be sending in a few months.

I'm trying not to get too wound up over this find, but the Garcia Lopez stuff looks EXACTLY like would imagine for the back of the card!

Also, looking at that Supergirl image, I wonder if it is possibly depicting Kara's first appearance outfit with the blue skirt? I hope so.

I love the Batgirl and Catwoman pic. That would be a solid wave when they are included.

my brother works for DC and was one of the artists shown on the two pictures....he has been involved with some of the biggest comic events DC has done over the past 20 years...he now does alot of thier style guide layouts and designs for Mattel....the artwork GL/ Sinstro, and Batwoman/ Catwomen were done a couple years ago, if you go to the link you will see quite a few characters....when I gave him the Green Arrow as a late Christmas present he was surprised as any to see the artwork on the back of the card.......the work is commishined and apon approval forwarded on with no knowledge when, where or if it would ever be used....that being said he claims to have no knowledge of upcoming releases....My job ,as always, being the younger brother is to continue to pry...I will update when info is available .....if he has any info I will get it out, sooner or later....I have his snow blower

Garcia Lopez has been the style guide artist for DC for the past 20 years,
regardless of who inks him. Since DC only wants to use "cleared" art for
packaging (confirmed penciller, inker, colorist) and he has a clean style,
they prefer to use his work.

All the artwork in the style guide was Garcia Lopez or Jerry Ordway.
Mattel did the packaging and selected artwork from the style guide.
