No figure is "perfect"--not Mego, FC, Emce, Castaway, or now Mattel.

Each has advantages & disadvantatges depending on one's taste, I suppose. I still prefer to use vintage Mego for my customs when possible.

I do like the sculpting of the Mattell upper body--I think if they tweak the stringing & legs, we'll end up with a nice figure option.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

I think the problem with the body is they strayed from the Big Jim waist and hips for a mego style elastic held together figure. It isn't working. It's a problem with the waist not being held together or fitting in place right. That's most of the problem. Big Jim didn't have the problem...

My only point is that people will complain. The complaints would not stop if we switched to Doc Mego Production bodies. Certain complainers would stop, and new issues would arise, along with new complainers. It would be the headsculpts, or the costumes, or the production value, or the character choices or the not-quite-megoness of something.

            Guaranteed.

Hmmm, I'm not so sure. So far most people seem to like (most of) the sculpts. It's the bodies people have an issue with. We all know DM bodies are great quality and true to Mego's bodies. I doubt there'd be a lot of complaining if Mattel switched to DM bodies

Yeah, I thought your name was familiar. Were you around on the FC boards with Skip, Tony and the rest?

People *****ed about CTVTs dedication to putting out so many Space 1999 and Happy Days figures when there were other figures that were wanted. People *****ed about straight Mego repros of the Kinghts and Robin Hood figures bringing down the value of the authentic ones. People complained virulently about complete and total disintrest in the I Love Lucy. And when CTVT stopped making new figures, there was a lot of speculation on why they didn't succeed along quality issues, license selection, and volume of figures.

I doubt I'm going to convince you that people will find something to complain about no matter what's done, and I don't disagree there's room for improvement in the Mattel figures, so I'll stop making the point. Reading the threads here, I just feel like everything old is new again.

I'm just hoping the new 8" movement continues indefinitely this time.

Oh, I agree some people will always find something to complain about, no doubt about that. But I still think most complaints will be silenced if the body doesn't have so many issues anymore.
And let's face it, I love Lucy and Married with Children? Seriously?
