I had all the reproduction and space 1999 figures.

CTTV is not megos . Ots a crappy mannequin to hold a replacement outfit.

theres a difference between an *" Authenticaly Styled clothe figure and a MEGO! that body and hokey charm.

I dont like the colored hands. Use Andorian gloves.

      >Commented in ToyFare about How Fantastic thier Body was compaired to Vintage Mego.

Yeah, but the execs always follow the script and say stuff like that. How many moves "are updated for a modern audience, but maintain the spirit and feel of the original.... 'cos we were ALL huge fans of the original!"

I still have the Toyfare where somebody from ToyBiz mentions how superior the Famous Cover is to the original Mego.

I agree the Mattel body is inferior to EMCE (except I really like the hands) but it sounds like they are already making tweaks so hopefully this will be all for naught and series two will address the issues some folks are having.

Mattel should just sell the heads (with revamped neck-pluck) and suits like the secret identities were sold.

            Isn't it?
They may have had issues with oversized gloves, undersized heads, and really really ugly women sculpts (), but I still love their Iron Man, Goblin, Scarlet Witch,...
Yep, I'm that one guy who still likes them...

I guess we just all had expectations (for getting "new Megos"), and it's very hard to meet all of them.
Let's just call them toys, and decide whether or not we want to play with them or drop the line.
EMCE has tons of stuff that looks too fantastic for words anyway...

Not to relive the flame wars of 1997 (where as I recall several members of the mego list left to form their own famous covers tribe) but no, I never thought very much of them.

Guessing that's the tribe I ended up with. Then I found the Museum.

Most of them fell off the face of the internet. I think me and Garyplayswithdolls are all that's left.

Worse thing about Famous Covers was so many people marketed them as THE RETURN OF MEGO.

I remember John's Toy's actually calling them Megos for a short time.

After all the RETURN OF MEGO hype you just had to hate them when you seen them.

I Liked Famous Cover's alot ..., still Do.
I never thought or treated them as Mego , but because of the Design of them..., can sorta See where the Compairison Makes Sense, on lots of different Level's.

They have problems ..., as well as positives... , but I'd say ingeneral they were a huge Success, with How many character Did get Made for the Line.

Not Fond of really any of the Female Characters for the Line.

always trading for Hot Toys Figures .

And anyone complaining about quality issues has forgotten the Type 2 kneepin problem that plagued many original Megos. There's a NRFC Robin on Ebay right now with a detached shin.

                                Just sayin'.

I don't think the Mattel body is perfect, but I *would* think it's a fine design if either the thighs were skinnier or the waist and torso were more in proportion to the legs. And I'd be ecstatic if swivel biceps were added and Flatt-style necks were employed, so long as the heads were still compatible with Mego.

If you're going to throw away your Mattel body, send it to me. I'll pay postage.

I'm curious if anyone has tried a Mego pelvis-swap with a Mattel body. I have a feeling it wouldn't work because the torso waist seems perfectly sized for the one it came with, though. And the legs are just thick compared to the rest of the figure - I'm not sure this would solve the issue, but I'd like to see for sure.
The problem with the ctvt production was the bodies plastic was too brittle but not the actual design

While yes the mego knee was always a problem for play i don't recall many broken ones on the shelves back then (ones that have cracked in package today have had over 30 years of potentially poor storage to break)
