How 'far out' do you think the Retro DC figures will go?

I love the assortments we've seen so far, and have been wondering how far outside the 'mainstream' of DC heroes the Retro Action figures will delve.

I'd love to see Plastic Man, Metamorpho, Adam Strange, Phantom Stranger, Legionnaires, and many more get the Mego treatment. Do you think we'll ever get that far into DC's catalog?

Well, if they release 4 figures per wave, it's going to take a lot of waves just to get the main characters out - especially when the waves also contain baddies.

My guess is we probably wont see any of the characters you posted unless the line is a phenomenal success and lasts years -- which we can always hope

Plastic Man might have the best chance, imo

At the rate they are going, it will likely surpass the original number of DC figures.

I think they have at least as much legs as the Super Powers line, but I'm not so sure that it will come anywhere near the numbers of different characters they have for Infinite Heroes or JLU. Some characters like the Qward Weaponers or even Fire and Ice from the Justice League might be a bit too obscure for the mainstream toy market at the $20-25 price point.

I'd like to see them get to at least the classic Teen Titans and JSA, and hopefully a few more contemporary ones beyond that... Stargirl, Starman, Changeling etc.

Yeah, I think it will probably surpass the original DC Mego output.

As long as they make the Flash, everything else is gravy to me, but I hope they do venture outside the mainstream of DC at least a little---and I agree with you guys: Plas and the JSA probably is the limit of how far they'll go (but MAN, would I love to see Metamorpho in this line.)

I'm right there with you. I hope this line doesn't die before we get the Flash. Marketing some of those rough prototypes is not going to place alot of excitement in the proper channels where this line would otherwise find tremendous support. There's a little saying about first impressions...

I imagine they're going to run short of villains before they run out of heroes. Example: suppose they put Hawkman and Atom in a wave. Those guys don't really have iconic arch-villains, do they? So will they put out someone else's villains - Bat or Flash rogues - or will they give us more heroes when it comes down to that?

Given the way all the other DC toylines have gone in the past decade or so, I'm assuming we'll eventually be getting Batman and Superman variants in order to fill out the assortments with B and C Listers.

I guess it depends if it remains a nostalgia fueled limited collectors line or if it does find a kid audience in Toys R Us as well.

I'm hoping they do make it past Hawkman, Atom, Plastic Man, and other second tier Justice Leaguers. I'd love to see them make it to Dr Fate, Golden Age Flash and Green Lantern, Mr Miracle, ANY Blue Beetle, Nightwing, even Guy Gardner.

I hope we get all of those too.

I can live with several Batman variants, I think. Black, Blue and Black, Adam West, etc. Especially if it allows the line to continue. Supes, less so: Long haired, black suit, Kryptonian Suit, Clark Kent, Electric Blue, Electric Red. But I'd definitely like to get a complete Superfriends cartoon cast (and a few select bad guys from the Challenge of the SuperFriends) or just a complete Justice League and then move on to the JSA.

I suspect for the line to sustain, it'll have to lean heavily on the Supes and Bat Family for anchors. I'd also imagine we're going to get a lot of bat and supes badguys simply because they have the most known foes, thanks to years of cartoons beyond the 70s.

Supes has his Luthor, but if you know a thing about Supes, there's still Brainiac, Solomon Grundy, Zod. And maybe Darkseid. And Toyman, if we go by the 70s cartoon. And if we redo an existing, Mr. Myx~~~pltk. And Doomsday, if we open it to the years after 1980.

Bats has his Two Face, but there's still Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Clayface, and Mad Hatter, to name a few. And that's if they don't re-do Joker, Catwoman, Penguin, and Riddler (I'd personally love a Purple Derby and Green suit Jacket Riddler with a question mark cane and a non-pirate suit Catwoman.) What about newer folks that have risen to prominence like Red Hood, Bane, Azreal, and Hush? Don't know.

The Flash has a big rogue gallery, but his baddies aren't really too well known outside the comic, excepting maybe Captain Cold. I think we can count on Captain Cold and/or Reverse Flash, but will we eventually see Mirror Master, Weather Wizard, and The Top? Not sure.

I'm really interested to see where the line goes once we get past wave 3 and 4, which is where I think the truly obvious choices will start to run out, depending on how the mix is for the unannounced lines (will we continue to get hero/villain pairs or not?).

I've PM'ed the Doc my good wishes that this toy line has at least as much legs as the DCU 6" line, which is up to at least wave 14.

With Green Arrow being an exclusive figure, we might be lucky all the heroes and villains from Challenge of the Super Friends. Who knows, though, maybe these figures will really take off.

I'd love to see Gentleman Ghost, etc., but my guess is that when/if we get to Hawkman and the second tier JLAers, Mattel will probably opt for more recognizable villains: Brainiac, Bizarro, Joker, and so on. Which is fine with me, because I want them all, but I'd love to see them throw us a curveball a la Killer Moth in the DCUC line.
