I used to sand those torso's down before using them on a custom body but just couldn't be bothered. The crotch tends to get a bit of camel toe as well. It's really more like camel foot to be truthful. It's not a doll it's an action figure.Comment

CC Beck's closed-eyes version is how most people from our era remember Shazam!
I was just watching the 70'as cartoon with my sons the other night.Check out my website: Megozine Covers - HomeComment

The body, head, suit and boots came from Doc Mego. The emblem, belt, wrist design, and cape were hand made. It was a struggle trying to get the eyes to have that right that "squint" look, with the right shape to the eyebrows. The head came flesh colored and didn't look right when i tried to paint it, so I left it that way.
Captain Marvel was always one of my favorite megos because I grew up watching the show on Saturday mornings and reading the comics. I really hope a Retro Action figure comes out along with a Black Adam.Comment

etc....i.e. "merch" from the Mego era...so that's why I prefer it to look that
way.
Maybe other DCU characters didn't look as cartoony, but that's not
what is going through my head with all this talk about
which way MATTEL should go with their line...all I'm thinking about is
what I would have ideally preferred from the mid-70s when I originally
saw Megos as opposed to how the Megos actually looked.
This wouldn't be an issue with a "Mego replica"-based line,
but (as I mentioned before) since they are "re-inventing the wheel" here
I'd say the floodgates are open for an idealistic perspective on how
the retro-based figures should look."No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment

The one thought that I have about it is, what intention did CC Beck have in drawing Captain Marvel's eyes like that? I'm pretty sure it wasn't meant to depict him with his eyes actually closed, but as a visual shortcut for squinting. So translating that to more naturalistic 3-D, I don't think you would actually have the head sculpt with his eyes closed, but with a kind of smiling, squinting look.

If his eyes look closed in the 70's comics, why not have his figure with his eyes closed?Check out my website: Megozine Covers - HomeComment
