Do you want to see Wonder Twins, Apache Chief, Black Vulcan and Samurai?
Marvin, Wendy & Wonderdog are where I draw the line, The other characters are at least cool in some aspect.
Wendy is the ONLY cartoon character I'll admit to thinking is a hottie.
Shes a bit young for me now but . . what am I saying ? She a cartoon!
And looking at Black Vulcan its like in the 70s they wanted to REALLY show off a black superhero by showing as much skin as possible, as oppossed to the 90s where all the black guys wer covered up. Prowler, Steel, Spawn,
I wonder what complications or internal licensing hurdles are involved in making action figures of the Politically Correct Superfriends. I'm guessing there was a reason why we saw analogous characters in Justice League Unlimited, yet Apache Chief, Wonder Twins, and the rest could show up on Harvey Birdman.
It appears that they are controlled by Hanna Barbera and not DC Comics?
Given that Warner owns both Hanna Barbera and DC Comics, you would think that we would have seen toy versions already (and there is a precedence with Samurai in the Super Powers line). Given that they were able to pull off an SDCC Matty Collector Wonder Twins this year, perhaps there is a chance we can see Mego-likes?
And maybe the real question is - do you want Mattel to give these figures priority in the Retro Action figure line over other Bronze Age D.C. characters? In other words, should Mattel be focusing on Plastic Man, Elongated Man, Hawkman, Atom, Black Canary, etc. or do these Superfriends' characters take priority?
And I'm certainly not suggesting there isn't a market for these figures - because we saw the Wonder Twins in a Limited Edition DCUC release, and some of those other figures made the JLU line. But could they have an adverse impact on a young line like the Retro line? I agree with some others that these figures could more easily be slipped in the DCUC line now - - - and if Retro goes through the roof with 10 waves or more, then maybe you circle back and give consideration to some of these figures.
I personally wouldn't buy them - but I can see why others have a nostalgic love for these characters. As a kid, my brother and I were always like "who are these guys, I've never seen them in the comics. Get them off the show."
