Ok, here's a thought that probably been brought up before....if Mego had never gone out of business, would they still be producing the same Body today? Or...would they have improve it?
I think they would have evolved.

I disagree. Green Arrow has always been a popular Mego for collectors and this one was produced only on a limited basis. It wasn't mass produced to saturate demand and then get marked down after gathering dust on pegs. Fans who second guessed their purchase or didn't know about it at all, will be hungry for it when the others come out later this year.

I appreciate your post and now understand pretty intently why youNope...I have a bigger appreciation for original toys the way they were manufactured. The reason I like the way the Mattel figures look is the clunkyness of the figure. It reminds me most of the old Mego T1 doll. I dont want that perfect anatomy look to my toys ala DC Directs figure statues. The Mego T1 figure happens to be my favorite toy because it looks like a toy and feels like a toy. I love oven mitten gloves and larger than the head removable mask and smiles on my dolls face. Hope this explains my post.

like the new Mattel bodies...
Still, you saying...
vs.I have a bigger appreciation for original toys the way they were manufactured.
sounds like what I said earlier...The reason I like the way the Mattel figures look is the clunkyness of
the figure. It reminds me most of the old Mego T1 doll.
vs.a bigger appreciation forTOY COMPANIES than BRONZE AGE DC CHARACTERS.
what is the simple truth...
JUST LIKING THE MATTEL BODY
I guess it's merely semantics but that's why I questioned
your original post in the first place.Leave a comment:

Interesting point. I happen to love T1 Megos as well. That may be why I find the flaws in the Mattel GA as charming.Nope...I have a bigger appreciation for original toys the way they were manufactured. I doubt with all the carded ones tuck away, hoping that this will be cash cow in the future.
price will move up VERY sloooooooooooow.Leave a comment:

I look at it like this - Mattel has brought back Mego's with their own signature body design, which they should. The head is perfect and the outfit makes the Mego version look pitiful by every measure. Mattel made the essentials of the Mego figure then improved on much of the rest. What is even better, they made it so you can put the head and outfit on other bodies if you so choose. I mean, isn't that the kind of versatility that makes this a win/win for everyone? I would say Mattel did an AWESOME job.Last edited by MIB41; Jan 17, '10, 6:59 PM.Leave a comment:

Another way for me to explain my stance in the context of ^^^I like the way The Mattels look just fine. To me if you customize the figure or change it from its original look...then its a customized or repro'd figure and not original. I hope they stay true with the rest as they have with Green Arrow. Long live Mattels Retro Action DC Super Heroes the way they are!

the above post...
By that logic, it sounds like you have a bigger appreciation for
TOY COMPANIES than BRONZE AGE DC CHARACTERS.
Hey, whatever floats your boat, still...
The only toy company designs that I like are either Mego replica body
vibed companies like EMCE whose body is very simillar to vintage Megos
so that a newly bought toy can look fine sitting with my
old Megos----a good blend to the naked eye, and to an eye that
doesn't see the FIGURE naked...
OR ...
I also like a modern take on 8 inch bodies that have impressive
enough articulation and body shape to leave them alone
when desiring to display a classic DCU character
Mattel is not a Mego replica (so that's out the window),
nor do I like the body perfectly (so, again, that's out the window)----
and, I'd have to change it.Leave a comment:

I guess the best for me would be to have an original Mego GA, and the Mattel one.
That way, I won't have to turn the new one into the old one.
Man, these are confusing times....Leave a comment:

And it would be such an easy "Fix" too...case in point:

The figures from wave 2 will have altered bodies from the ones in wave 1. What does that tell you? That even Mattel isn't happy with them because they know the current bodies have issues. Have you taken a REAL good look at those legs?
