My fix of the Mattel GA

I know Toyroom did his card already, mine took longer (beacuse I'm slow) and I wanted to just reformat the Mattel version more closely - to show how much better (IMO) it would have looked on the regular 7x10 card. I used the original GA logo too. Everything else is nearly exact to how Mattel's card is.

Also did a body replacement as others have done - Castaway body, Mattel Forearms, CTVT boots.

I have to say - really disappointed in Mattel here. The things they did right, they did really right. Costume, head sculpt, and quiver/hat are fantastic.

I can forgive the bow - they made a silly mistake but it doesn't ruin the figure and I can understand the safety concerns.

The body is a dreadful disaster, and the boots are a joke. I didn't even try to save the body to get the head off - I just broke it. It's a total POS and went straight in the garbage.

Frankly, it's more sad that a company as big as Mattel couldn't nail it. EMCE's Trek and POTA were close to perfect and any minor issues – well hey they're a small company. Even CTVT with ALL their issues got a lot right (costumes + heads). But for Mattel to screw it up, especially on the body, and especially with the Doc's body design done - man it's frustrating. My purchasing forecast on these have gone way down because it's going to be at least another $15 (new boots, new body) per figure just to get these right.

No disrespect to Paul - I know he was only a consultant. I had very few complaints with the Trek stuff and the Gorn is a highlight of this Mego renaissance. I'm sure Mattel had their reasons for the changes, but they pooched it on this.

With that off my chest – for $15 you can make it the way it should have been.

Another fine example of what Mattel could've done with their card, amazing how they dropped the ball on that. Even just the GA logo already makes a huge difference

When you redid the card you should have colored in the bottom half of his bow. I think your card is way better! Mattel missed with the card!

I am really enjoying these makeovers....I wish I could figure out an affordable
way to get each figure to look and function as well for myself...but I'm
pretty lazy to take on the project by myself and it'd probably be a bit pricey
to try to draft someone else to do it.

STILL, I'll note that it was the potential/promise of an event like
these 8 inch beauties coming onto the market that stopped me
from buying into the old DC DIRECT 13 inch line.

                We'll see how this develops...ha-ha

But really Corellian, this thread is about YOUR great re-rendering and,
                again, wonderful job!

It was hard to figure out the color on the mattel card. It looked like the glow was the same for GL and Sinestro. I thought it was strange, too. I'll look again.

Sinestro's ring glow is definitely Yellow on the back of the Mattel card.

                        Great job !!!

I can't wait to do mine when I get the time.
I bought a extra for just this reason.
someone else put the criss-cross stiching on the chest.
That really makes it pop, too.

Nice work. Both the figure and card look great. If he had sold this way, I would have no complaints.
