If Retro Action 8" Green Arrow proves to be a success (and why wouldn't he?), who would like to see a NEW DC Retro Action offered EACH month on mattycollector like Masters of the Universe Classics?! *With a subscription, of course! OBSCURE DC characters could be sold on matty that maybe wouldn't be recognizable to today's kids at Toys R Us! And, keep the price at $20 each! Looking foward to DC's 75th Anniversary this year!

I guess I don't fully understand the deal with MOTU. Are they offered on a subscription basis because there is not enough of a market to sell these toys on a standard retail basis? Or are they being sold at retail with only certain exclusive figures being provided on a subscription basis? -

MOTUC are sold strictly though Mattycollector. You do not have to have a subscription to order them, but they offer a subscription service each year so that you are guaranteed each figure. Personally I don't do the subscription, because I am not a completest and don't like the idea of being forced to purchase characters I don't care for. Also, I have simply never had a problem ordering the figures I want off their site.
Sometimes they also offer bonus figures that are not included in the subscription.
As for Retro-Action, I highly doubt I will be a completest on the line, so would not do a subscription with those either. I wouldn't mind if Matty offered more obscure figures every couple months or so though.Last edited by Remco Monster; Jan 8, '10, 3:43 PM.Comment

I think a bi-monthly Retro Action figure would be cool. But the plan is for this to go retail as well, so who knows how well it would sell if it competes against itself.Comment

Thanks for the input. And your point was kind of what I was getting at with my question. Isn't the preference for wider availability at retail and the subscription more of a fall-back position if there is a more limited fan-base.Comment

I'd subscribe blindly, sure there'd be some characters I could care less about in the mix but it would also push forward some that I like.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions
