Green Arrow's looking up (one more"fix")

Yeppers, he's looking up, down, and all around. The GA I got had really bad legs so when I read the head swap post I was very happy. I boiled the water and oh so carefully removed his head, but nay-nay my friends my GA would have none of that and the plug ripped at the neck line. All the while I've had this other idea in my head to fix ripped plugs. It's sort of based ob mego's female neck plugs.
So, I did a quick sculpt of the new plug, made a mold and made my new resin plug. The GA head fits on snug but can be popped back off. I'm using a cast-away body now.

I ran some elastic through the body down to the waist pin and back through the neck plug. there is a pin at the top like the female necks. I matched the head's color, painted the plug then sealed it with a few coats of super glue. I may take him apart and widen the hole in the body a bit so the plug will sit lower but other than that I am super happy with the way this worked out.

If anybody else rips the neck and would like a plug feel free to pm me.

I think it's great that you guys are customizing your Green Arrows and not
just staring at them sealed on the card. It confirms what I always believed:
that we want toys, not collectibles.

I do have to chuckle recalling the conversations Joe and I had with
Mattel and Diamond about making any changes to the classic MEGO
body with swivel arms, swivel thighs, ball-n-socket necks, etc. and
the decision makers concern about how these changes would play
                      with the hardcore MEGO fans.

We were trying to re-create what MEGO had done, not Flattworld
or LJN. I'm glad to have all this feedback so when discussing body
options with present and future licensees, we can assure them
that there is room for improvements for greater playability.

The swivel head is a great idea, too. We just recently got a prototype made for Yet Another Project We Can't Talk About and the fellow we're working with attached the head in a ball-and-socket manner. Never occurred to me, at least, that it was needed and it's not a "blasphemous" change to classic Mego, I don't think...

Same way the Playing Mantis AJ's are mounted. Nice job.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

Absolutely. Collectibles gather dust, but toys are magic. Toys are meant to be played with by kids of all ages.

You can't please all the people, all the time, but given the feedback on GA it seems like you and Joe got really damned close. I've personally experimented with a number of them, and I think it looks great on most bodies. I do have to say that that I think it looks best on a Doc Mego repro Type 2 body.
