    Green Arrow bow fix

In anticipation of his arrival I’ve been working on a better bow for GA.

I took a CTVT bow, cut off the ‘bow string’, drilled tiny holes on each end and attached elastic string. The Mattel bow is a bit thinner so it may not be sturdy enough for the same procedure. I will probably try eventually.

With a real bow to hold GA screamed for Castaway swivel biceps so I switched the suit and head over using the boil method in this forum. Which worked great.

Last I made an arrow from a wooden dowel. The arrow head and end feathers are from a green school folder from Walmart.

With a little patience and steady hand he will hold the bow string and the arrow will rest on each of his hands as long as I don’t breathe on it. I had to swivel his arm to an unnatural position to keep the elbow from bending from the bow string tension. BTW my record for shooting that arrow is 15 feet. Definitely not child safe I guess.

I’ve ordered green CTVT bows and Green Castaway hands and will switch them out for sure. The arrow seems a bit big but it’s all I had on hand so I will probably redo the arrow.

Nice job! Can't wait to see the green version. Try some small metal rod for the arrow shaft. Available at most hobby shops.

That doesn't look bad at all. I like the experimentation.

One guantlet should be longer to protect the arm the the bow string snaping back but the other could have been shorter. Not a biggie though. I think they can be trimmed a bit at the elbow to let the arm bend easier.
I plan to hit a large train/hobby store this week. They have tons of plastic/metal/wood dowels so I should find something there.
Not sure how well the hands switch out. They didn't have enough grip for the bow string so I went with Castaway hands.

that is not an unnatural stance. That is how you are supposed to draw a bow. Looks great.

Round cocktail type toothpicks seem the right size to start an arrow with. You might try that. I think they come in fancy colors if you want the arrow to be green.

That really sucks that you have to go out and buy a new body and bow to make it better. Why couldn't Mattel just make it better? How much would it have cost to make a swivel arm and a better bow .Castaway did it and their figures are the same price. If you are going to Repro the line make it better. Toy Biz Made some terrible 9" Famos Covers figures a few years ago they were also junk, over size bodies tiny heads real bad stuff. It is so easy to copy something from things already made why can't Mattel be more creative they could maybe a ball jointed neck so the figure head can go up and down something different. Mattel and Hasbro both are Junk companies the make junk toys they only worry about profit and their share holders. They couldn't care less about the customers. They are falling way behind from Hot toys, Takara and Medicom in making figures.

Castaway bodies definitely work best for green arrow
