    Green Arrow review

Green Arrow also arrived today and for me there’s more to like than not. Here’s my two cents:

    The good:
The hinged shoulders which allow more mobility and holding of a pose.
The arm/shoulder/chest design looks more natural and realistic
Buffed up arms. Even when hanging at the side the arms look more human like. Mego arms can look stiff no matter how you pose them.
The elbow/knees are rounded and natural looking.
    The flexible hands
    The rotating feet
I like to overall muscle sculpt of the figure

    The bad
Some don’t like the small pelvis but I think the way the elastic attaches into the thigh makes it want to spring back from the seated position. A Mego-like hook is needed to allow the leg to rotate and hold the pose without stretching the elastic. As it is now the elastic has to bend with the thigh and wants to pull the leg back into a standing position.

I don’t mind the big thighs but the angle of the knee into the shin hinge is what helps to give him the bow legged look. If the inside of the knees were a little thicker and the shins a little straighter it would look better.

Not really a bad thing and may apply more to heavy playing by kids but the elbow joint seems fragile and thin. When I move the arm at the shoulder I make sure to hold it on the upper arm. Moving it while holding the wrist or lower arms seems to put a lot of stress on the thin elbow hinge.

    Overall it’s a great figure.
    Better late than never.....

Exactly what I've been saying about the knees. The shins should have a bit of a curve but it's over-exaggerated making the straight joint work improperly. The knee joint needs to be angled outward and/or new shins/lower legs made with less of a curve.

Maybe, I'm alone, but I don't actually like the swivelly feet.

HI BRIAN! Good to see you posting! I hope things are well with you and that you got your new website up okay after AOL shutdown.

That is just a beautiful figure! I only wish his bow was brown instead of green. But boy does he look sweet! I had a UPS note stuck to my door and I think it may be my Green Arrow. Did everyone get their GAs via UPS?

I love the new figure. The material for the clothing is tight and the colors fibrant. The tightness shows off the muscular plastic body very well. The figure feels heavy and sturdy. I like the new movements and the overall look. There are a couple of minor complaints. I do not like the thickness of the hat. I would perfer if it was more flexible. I also miss the black eyes from the orginal. However, this is a great first offfering. I will be even more excited when I see new figures.

I may be in the minority here, but after seeing this pic of all three together I really like the Mattel version as is better then the Mego versions.

The Mattel body grows on you over time. I wasn't thrilled with it when I first
saw it - but when I stopped expecting it to be mego, then spent some time
playing with it as a toy - I realized that it was mego in the most important
way. It was the same scale, not bigger, not smaller.

That was our major compliant with the Hasbro 9 inch and Famous Covers -
they made megos look like sidekicks!

The people who have these complaints, on the whole, got past that
these MATTELs weren't "replica Mego type" items like the EMCE lines
were...moreso their problem with the MATTEL body as it stands stems
from the idea that since they AREN'T EMCE "replica Mego style" why not try
to make bodies that are better proportioned in the legs
and have other sculpt and/or articulation "improvements" over
oldschool figure manufacturing/design mindsets along the lines of
swivel arms and other such "super posable" things...

You'd think that with 2010's technology and with a toy business juggernaut
like Mattel behind this new product that notable improvements could
                          be made in this category...

That being said, the 8 inch virtually "interchangeable with Mego"
qualities of the new MATTEL figures clothing, head, acessories, etc...
that's nothing to sneeze at...and much appreciated as sales to the old guard
                          have shown.
"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix

Any body else having problems with the suits material??
I have had mine open for less the ten minutes and just from gentile handling and posing my suit has already piled up in several places. My hands skin are not all that rough, but dang, these should hold better then this. I pulled my thumb away and up came two pills just at one time. I'm a little ****ed here.

Loose ones will not stand up too well to play if they are like this.
