I'd like to see EMCE do Forbidden Planet figures

Forbidden Planet is arguably the second most popular sci-fi movie of all time (after Star Wars) but nobody has ever made action figures of it.

The thing about Forbidden Planet, it transcends all age groups ... Just so long as the person is a sci-fi fan ........ FB has fans that are 70 years old as well as 25 years old.

Also, the C57D uniforms are really neat so they'd make great figures.

Robbie is a tough one .....
I suspect because he wouldn't be an action figure in the EMCE body conventional sense, he might have to be bipassed ------- But, I could live with that if necessary.

I want the Captain, Altaira, Dr Morbius and the Doctor to start out --- or even be the complete series.

    What do you think ?

If you bypass Robbie, who is the most marketable character, whats the point.
You'd be better off having one of our resident customizers build you a crew around an existing Robbie toy. Some of the tin Robbies are Mego scale.

    Keepin' it Mego-ey !

Yeah, you can't have Forbidden Planet without Robbie

The movie was made by MGM, but I believe Warner Brothers currently owns the rights to the film.

Not only Leslie Nielson but Richard Anderson(Bionic shows), Earl Holliman(Police Woman) and Warren Stevens (Star Trek) and of course Anne Francis. Lots of good custom oppurtunites besides being a great license. The Great Walter Pigeon would be great to have as an EMCE too.

I'd love to see a Mego FP space suit.

As far as Robby is concerned, a somewhat Mego sized electronic Robbie figure came out a while ago. Such a figure could provide the basis for a Mego Robby without doing a sculpt from the ground up.

If the license is in reach Paul, such a figure set could get airtime promotion on Turner Classic Movies (they promote the DVD/blu ray releases and other merchandising tie ins on that channel) and Warner bros. does currently have the video rights.

Now might be a good time to make a play for a FP license.

It would be an ace in the hole doing figures of Forbidden Planet

Just imagine, NOBODY has ever done it.

You know how fast these would sell ?

CRAZY FAST ... and not just to Mego people ..... Sci Fi people, Monster people, Classic Sci Fi people --- just to name a few would buy these.

Forbidden Planet covers a lot of genres ......

Hell, even the Rocky Horror crowd would snap them up.

I think there is an robbie model kit out from moebius models.

                        I'd dig that.

Funny thing; there was a garage kit company that made a Mego-sized Altaira kit. They sent me one of the heads and I used it on a custom.
