I know it's a bummer. and even worse, it's only the latest thing to complain about. The name change, the body, the unswapable body parts and head, and that boxing glove arrow. These are not megos but they are most likely the closest you or I will ever come to seeing them return thanks to Doc. Paul somehow managed to pull off a wonderful thing here. They are not mego, but they are mattel's and Paul's attempt to bring those super sweet toys back to us and a whole new generation.
In 2004 I took a bus from Toledo to New York and one of the best things I brought back from Mego Con 2004 was a complete reproed Batman for my 4 year old nephew off of Paul's table. That was the closest I've come to buying a "new mego" in 20 years. It also was not a mego. It was all Pauls parts on a Doc body (looks a lot like a mego body but has many minor changes) and even though it looked a lot like a mego I knew it wasn't. It was beefier, a RC on a type2 body, and the colors were close but not megos. It was brand new though and I took it back and handed it to my four year old nephew and he though it was great. It was a few months before I saw it again on his bedrom floor naked. My sister saved his clothes because every time he played with him he ended up taking off his batsuit. I think it's all back together on his shelf now. One of the well played with toys that survived his childhood!
Please always remember as you gripe about a bow or a body or a one week wait, Somewhere out there is a dad or an uncle who is going to hand a child a new Green Arrow figure, and the kid is going to SMILE. He wount care, he'll play with him and a month later the bow will be lost and Ollie will be in a toy box naked. 30 years later he'll be looking for a Mattel Green Arrow on ebay and at flea marlets. When he finds it and gets it in his hands again there will be another Smile.
