Here's an idea...if these really take off!

If the new Megos really take off, can we get a reissue series of the classic figures? I never managed to get either Captain Marvel or the Teen Titans and it would be awesome to have them reissued! Imagine them reissuing Batman with removeable cowl, or Dick Grayson Robin... Anybody else interested in this, let everyone know!

    Gremlin aka Xavier--

Give us Golden Age Mego!!! Hourman! Golden Age Green Lantern, Jay Garrick would absolutely rock!sigpic

I think for many people on here, a re-issue of the classic WGSH's would carry an agguement. Many people do not want the classic line touched and some people really welcome it. So here is where this thread should start. Do we approave of the the classic line going through a re-issue or do we say to leave it alone?

I reckon we leave them alone, and not make copies. I really look at these new ones, as an extention onto the vintage characters that never got made. Saying that I will still "collect em'all"

Kinda pointless to debate. Mattel clearly has no interest in doing a re-release. That's why the figures are "updated" versions of the classics.

As for them doing a lot of the old characters, absolutely. I'd love them to do it. But Mattel isn't paying to re-do figures. They want these to be Mego in spirit but updated to today's standards.

Which is why the first re-do, Superman, isn't using the old head sculpt.

perhaps the good dr should go it alone and knock up some classics for all those who want them, perhaps made to order so not to have a flood of unwanted dolls on the shelf, we all know he is more than capable of doing a good job
toyroom or rebox knocks you up a box or card and walla

if the classic trek and pota line is anything to go by then im sure classic supes and spidey and so on would more than likey be very cool and sell very well

not to market it toward the kids though, most kids today want spiderman that transforms into 3 different things and have a million and 1 accessories with them, if the classic line was marketed toward children they would be snubbed by most, kids these days dont seem to have the imagination they want stimulation all moving and dancing, market it toward a collector and and limit the numbers and your cooking

Doc won't make the classics on his own because he doesn't have the rights and it would also be in clear violation of his deal with Mattel, he's not gonna jeopardise that, so you might as well forget about that idea.
And Mattel has already said that any reissue of a classic Mego will not be a copy. New sculpt, some alterations to the suit

Let's hope they do not remake the Mego Catwoman as she originally was.

What these guys said. Plus, when the EMCE superheroes were announced, it was said that one of the companies involved(either DC or Mattel) has a policy of not using a sculpt unless the original sculptor can be credited. Very few, if any, of those names are available. Even if Mattel was inclined to reuse original Mego sculpts, this would prevent it from from happening.

There is also that credit to previous artists who worked on the original figures. If you can't track everything down, you can't use it. That, plus the different style guides were mentioned on another thread.

I could see Batman being RC in a new design, too.
                  It's all good!

I welcome ANYTHING mego. At the end of the day guys, these are toys (not monuments). Anything that increases kids playing with mego's, whether it be re-issues or sucky CTVT, it's still nice to see kids play with these toys.

Making re-pros of classic series isn't always a good idea.....take trek for instance...the figures are based on actual tv characters,so you are reproducing from a "set version"...it works because the look doesn't change.
WGSH are based on interpretations of comic book characters with versions of the them that change from time to time,so the original classic WGSH line is part of an era making it a valued collectible.....re-pros of them only will hurt them.....one the other hand making updated versions and adding to the line will create a new era for the line...just my two cents

That's how I feel. It is best to move onto something new. Lets not damage the originals.

years ago Doc did just that making slightly different replacement replicas of original mego heroes uniforms and gear. he stopped because of legal issues He certainly wouldn't start that now with his new ties to dc via mattel

Personally I'd rather see new versions made. They came with 3 new characters out of the 5 proposed for the first run. 2 that should have been megoized originally and Sinestro is one of my fave baddies anyway. I'd love to see a more comic accurate Cap Marvel and some other previously unreleased characters. I would hope Flash and a villain for him would be at least in consideration for another run. Batman has to be if they go further, especially with the success the B&B cartoon seemed to have. I'm thinking two face is the most popular villain never done in 8" mego scale for him so that one should get collectors interests. Not like a Ledger style Joker or a Carrey style Riddler wouldn't be popular either. Maybe an Alfred mail in figure like FC did with Aunt May. And will female figures be included? That will just open up a whole other conversation.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

I would hate to see them pop out copies of the originals. We have enough problems with scammers on eBay now, imagine if exact duplicates were out there as fodder. I like the direction Mattel is taking with this - - - a twist on an old classic.
