    EMCE vs CTVTs

    Comparing the two ...
Let's see who wins the battle ....

The goods and the bads list ......
    ----------------------------------

    The goods ...
    --- CTVTs
    They're a dime a dozen

    --- EMCE
Figures are top quality -- (almost BETTER then Mego)
Card art and construction is fantastic.
Characters and lines are extremely popular (it seems like almost a dream EMCE got the rights to some of these lines)
    Prices are reasonable.

    --------------------------
    The bads
    --- CTVT's
Lousy figure constuction (I mean REALLY lousy).
Hit and miss sculpts (mostly miss)
Card art looks like it was designed by a 5 year old with a pair of plastic scissors and paste.
Most lines were not appealing and seemed doomed to fail from the start.

    --- EMCE
    Long-tall red-neck Scotty.
Didn't do a Lost In Space line

    --------------------------

    So,
    Who wins the battle ?

I have to give this one to EMCE by a hair

It's really No Compairison when discussing Doc Mego's Body,.. compaired to CTVT's Body. Doc's Body Blows thier's away on so many levels.

I do like the clothing from CTVT..., for the most part. The Western Stuff is Great. & I love CTVT Skeleton's Body too.
... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.

always trading for Hot Toys Figures .

I have to agree with BK,Doc Mego's bodies seem to be much better, more stronger and robust than CTVT bodies but i only have the Black Knight from CTVT as a comparison against EMCE figures i have.

I too like CTVT's Skeleton body.Great for a Jason and the Argonaughts skeleton warrior custom.

If that is the case I will take about a 100 dozen of them off your hands just for starters.

For the most part I do agree with you on the EMCE list.

There is no doubt in my mind that EMCE is going to win the battle hands down. EMCE's quality is far more superior then CTVT. Dr. Mego did his home work like any intelligent person would have before diving in and "re-inventing the wheel" so to speak. I could never imagine Dr. Mego or anyone for that matter creating something less than what CTVT has already made.

I know if I set out to produce a figure I would want it better than EMCE since EMCE is the new leader at mass producing figures at this present time.

CTVT is good because mainly it is inexpensive for everyone. That is one key why CTVT has done so well in my opinion. That and they created some new lines that were never made whether some of those lines were good or bad. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The CTVT line is great to "practice on" before creating that final custom figure. They are also great for custom fodders and just background figures just to sit on a shelf. Just like everything in life it all has it's goods and bads.

The bottom line is you do get what you pay for. You buy cheap you get cheap.

Not even close...Doc Mego all the way.

However...I am grateful for a lot of the accessories CTVT's made: Clothes, Belts, etc.. But my favorite thing CTVTs made was the Klingon Boots in many colors! I can cut them into Batman Boots, Superman Boots, or straight for Nick Fury or Green Lantern. By far...my favorite thing they made.

The bads for EMCE/Doc...Cracking torsos that suck the arms up inside of them. I've had 3 of them do that.

well, there are always exceptions right???

The CTVT bodies are just crap..... the skeleton they put out falls apart before you even open it...the head skult is cool though. the only thing they really had going is the accessories and some of the heads, although their heads are too soft and the paint ends up coming off.

Doc Mego's stuff is all far superior to CTVT....it was a labor of love for him and it shows. The only complaint I have is the bodies are strung a little too tight so there is less posability then the Mego body...particularly with the arms at the shoulder joint

As a diehard Happy Days fan I had to buy all of the HD line. Only thing is, because the CTVT bodies fall apart when you open them, they must be replaced with Dr. Mego bodies.

So I guess I have to combine both companies to get what I want.

CTV did everything wrong - they went cheap in production, did not
research the market, screwed everyone who bought from them in
wholesale when they dropped their prices, burned the bridge with
the license holders and burned another bridge with the factory, and
                      blew off the Abrams family.

I think if they would have researched the market they would have found little demand for the Happy Days line.

Being a Happy Days fan I guess I have to be thankfull for the crappy figures they made. I guess.
