I'd say they'll do something with each wave - Green Arrow for wave 1, maybe a variant for wave 2, etc. If the demand is there after the first wave or two, I'd expect they'd try and go month-to-month.
For a line like this, however, I'd imagine them trying to focus more on how the new WGSH move in stores. Sure, the collectors will snag 'em up, but it'll be the kids and their parents that'll ultimately determine if Mattel wants to continue the line."It's sad that governments are chiefed by the double tongues. The new MOTU classics line went exclusively online (1 char. a month originally) since they (Mattel) didn't think any stores would pick up the line after the last fiasco of several years ago (bad product distribution and selection) . Remember though that they "tested the waters" by offering a few 1 time only MOTU classics figures online only to test demand before the "line" went live.
Naturally, we're lucky enough to at least START with the brick & mortar stores in addition to the Green Arrow online (another test figure? Hmmm... sounds familiar)
Personally, I think that the WGSH line will eventually migrate to mattycollector only but not before its run in the stores has finished. My very likely guess is that we'll see several "bonus" figures next year at Mattycollector regardless of how things go in the stores, the more obscure stuff that would not be considered successful in the stores (like they are doing with the DC 6" 2 packs now).
Hopefully it will be a great insurance policy since the MOTUC line has proven that a collector only, smaller production run line can thrive at Mattycollector only.
If the kids today don't "get" the appeal of our 8" treasures in stores, watch for the WGSH to be "rebranded" as exclusively adult collector material and then it's hi-ho Matty exclusively...
