Not what I am getting at.
I don't think anyone would think they have come up on a cash of toys that are 30 year old stock suddenly reappearing on the shelves. If they did, they would sell OUT
All them gramma toy speculators from the 90s would be in full force.
No, I am saying Joe Parent might think the item is last years model that didn't sell because it did not appeal to kids. I am thinking Indiana Jones here. Something that has been warming the pegs and moved around so much that it is getting a bit ragged, but is not on clearance so the price seems high for something that kids are not into. Not all parents/gift givers are toy savvy. Many of them just want to know 'what does it do?' and if they don't see it holding a kids attention for more than 5 minutes will pass on it.
I would also like to reiterate that personally, as a collector, the idea of weathered packaging does not appeal to me. As a parent buying these for my kids (which I most certainly will) it has no impact.
I am also very happy to see more hero toys on the shelves that do not have guns, knives, or blood on them. May there be many more to come.
