    wounded Andorian

My brother went to New York City for vacation, so I asked him to pick up a few Star Trek figures at FAO*. He just brought them by last night.

Sadly, though, my new Andorian arrived wounded! I couldn't tell by looking at the figure in package, but upon removal, I noticed his one arm felt loose. Removing his outfit, his entire one side looked kinda scuffed. There was a small chip out of the leg near the ball joint. All of which seemed mostly cosmetic, except for the arm. At the elbow pin connector, the two ends of the lower arm were bowed outward, like the pin wasnt holding it tight against the upper arm. (It did have a pin in the elbow, though.)

I'm in Virginia. I can't take it back to the store. So I guess I'm wondering... Does that sound like repairable damage? Anybody have any suggestions? Hopefully, I will be able to post pics... but last night, the flash reflecting off the body just washed out all details of the damage.

I'm kinda bummed. I was very excited about my new figure...

*Incidentally, my brother said that he cleared out that last couple remaining Scottys. Apparently, there were only a few Andorians remaining... and a TON of Keepers. Don't know if there were more in the back or anything...

I was in that very store on Sunday afternoon and there were a couple of Scotty's left. Andorians and Keepers were plentiful. There was an island of the Bizarro, Joker, and Superman DC 13 inchers, as well as the multi face Green Lantern. Easily over 100 of those figures. If you have the receipt call FAO customer service and see if there is anything they can do. It's worth a shot.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

I tried the customer service line... couldn't get a hold of an answer or a real person. They told me they were closed and to call back between 10am & 7pm... even though it was only 6:30. Not encouraging.

So I thought I would post a few pics of the damage...

I have never tried any repair work on my Megos... so I'm hoping this is something where I can get a cheap Doc Mego part and just fix it myself.

      Any advice would be appreciated.

I am not sure Paul has any of the powder blue bodies on his site, but you can email him to see if he by chance does. Other than that you can pop off the forearm and put a new one , but I'm sure you would rather use a powder blue one.

Thanks for the offer. I will try the FAO route and Doc Mego first... but if those don't work out, that would be great.

I am amazed by the sense of community here. You're good people.

It might be possible to fix the arm that you have.
Try popping out the pin in the elbow by pushing it out with a very small screw-driver or something similar. They tend to come right out with little to no problem.
Then try placing the arm segment that's bowed in a small pot of boiling water to heat it so it becomes pliable. You may even want to try putting a clothes-pin or something similar on the bowed end before placing it in the water. Make sure to use something that will leave little to no marks when the plastic gets soft such as a good ol' wooden clothes-pin.
Leave it in the boiling water for a few minutes making sure that the part doesn't touch the bottom for long. Make sure to move it around often in the water to keep it from melting. Then remove it carefully from the water with the clothes-pin still holding together the bowed area and let it cool. The pressure from the clothes-pin should squeeze it back to a more proper position. If it seems to have closed up more than it originally should have been don't worry. When you place the segments back together and push the pin back through (you may need to wiggle it a bit to get it seated right) it should push it all back to a nice tight fit.
This is just a suggestion since I've never done this myself, but I've read of similar procedures being done like this with good results. Even if it doesn't fix the bow it won't damage the part any further than it is.
Hope it helps and works out for ya.

That's wonderful to helping him to repair his new Andorian!

I had one with split right hand glove, I sold it... and I bought another one is fine, whew!

Yes, DrMego Paul is the MAN!!!
