@rche, off hand I cannot recall a shop off 410, north side of town, but it sounds like it might be Alien Worlds they usually have vintage stuff around. SA really dropped off as far as collectable stores go. I remember some great ones back in the nineties.Comment

Yeah that was alien worlds off of the 410 and 281. I mean, it is not exactly on the side of the road or anything, but you scoot a little south from the loop and you are there. That is the only noteworthy shop I can think of in the SA area. If there is anything else, let me know. We go to SA about once a year to see the Zoo or Gardens and I try to hit AW just to see if anything is interesting.Comment

rche, I just checked out a new (for me) comic shop named Dragon's Lair in the Medical Center off Fredricksburg Road in SA, very clean, carries a lot of gaming supplies, miniatures, etc. Also comics, some toys. I didn't see any vintage, but I did see the EMCE Star Trek figures, had about five or so, the gold trimmed Spock among them. and a ton of Dr. Who toys. Just a heads up.Comment

I know the DL folks from their store on 34th in Austin from when I was picking up horror books and milk & cheese from them awhile back. The Austin store has moved a few times since then. I have never seen the SA place, but probably will stop by sometime if in the area. Very nice folks running the shop. I am glad to see they are still going in both locations. It is a tough business in the book world.
btw: For action figs and comics together, have you ever been to Austin Books on Lamar in Atown? They have an immense selection of niche market stuff like the DC directs and EMCE. They also have a life sized Hulk statue in there and my son always says we are going to Hulk's house if we stop at the shop. (Dragon's Lair is Spiderman's house, and there is another comic shop up north with an Iron Man and you can guess who's house that one is.)Comment
