Ok, maybe I'm missing something, but who was left with a red circle and a yellow circle, now do they go on the transporter buttons? I don't think the instructions mention them and After more than 30+ years It's one of those things I can't recall.

Hey, you know I used to set up the console so it was facing me and kirk and his chair was facing me and the bridge was the back drop behind. You know so the view screen was in back of kirk. If they had put control panels where the view screen is and made the panel to the right of the screen (when looking into it) look like the elevator door. It would look so much like the back of the real bridge. Any chance of making it this way as a connecting piece of sorts? So you could release it as the second half of the bridge? include a few more stools and maybe a rear wrap around console for uhura and spock to have their chairs, which would leave a spot for scotty's chair too!Comment

Although putting another transporter there so you could walk into the Turbolift and "leave" could be cool.
You have seen the DidaDisplays, right? He really did an excellent job:
Expanded Space Command Carry Case Playset
Here is a shot of what you were describing:
I really want one of those. Or all of those. But I think maybe he has ended production. As soon as I have the money, I'll ask him.

Hello everyone!
My first post to the forums and very happy to be here!
WOW! The Retro Enterprise Playset!
I never thought I would ever see that brought back!
Brings back memories of one of the best Xmas ever!!!
But, and I'm sure to get rapped in the mouth for this, and probably deservedly so...,
BUT..., from the photos graciously posted, it looks like all the plastic pieces (the console, capt.'s chair and the stools) are all molded in white.
I was hoping for the light blue capt. chair, yellow console & black stools that I had in my original set and that I've seen in the photos Diamond Select advertised up to the release of this set.
Now it can be argued that molding everything in one color was a necessary cost cutting measure and that using white would be more consistant with the look of the show. Besides, I like the white color better than the all light blue molding that came with some of the playset releases back in the seventies. The capt. chair I ordered from CTVT I got in white.
Aside from that (which is really a minor point) the set still looks great.
A very positive upside to this set is that it will probably hold up alot better, particularly the clear plastic that protects the art work.
My original set's plastic started splitting not that long after I had it and that really bothered me and my friends back then.
So, gang, any other info about the new set?
Anything else different or better?
Is there some sort of extra screen with the Mego-style Star Trek logo on it that I'm seeing in the photos?"...You can capture the Klingon & bring him back to the Enterprise!"Comment

Welcome aboard actjac01! This place is great, you'll dig it I'm sure.
The playset furniture is actually cast in a light gray, I was bummed that it wasn't in the blue color as before, but like you said very minor detail. Besides you have to make it a little different.
The logo screen is actually the back of the other screens, so each of the screens has this logo on it.
Besides those differences the only ones I could see were the addition of the Diamond Logo on the outside of the playset and the latch looks to be different, I'm sure some of the veterans have more of a detailed list of the differences, I only played with a friends set back in the day, never owned the original myself so I'm going off memory.Comment

Howdy chunky B!
Thanks for the welcome!
Light grey moulding... even better.
And I agree...there are going to be slight differences, and these are necessary.
Aside from better materials available today and improved manufacturing techniques, etc..., it also make it alot harder for some people who may attempt to 'ebay' some of this as original 70's stuff and not re-makes and try to charge accordingly, especially to folks that may not know the difference. Now, that really BURNS my biscuits, let me tell you!
So, that logo is on the back of each screen, so there are 6 seperate screens, instead of 3 screens with the images printed on both sides.
I like that.
Besides, I'm thinking that might give you a 'seventh' image, if you will, suggesting the forward screen is 'off' or just some sort of 23rd century 'screensaver'.
Nifty!
Well sir, mine retro set should be arriving soon from the Megostore.

I doubt the color change was a cost saving measure, but one so that the new parts could NOT be passed off as originals to an unaware buyer at some point.
