As for the 8" Talosian, you can also check out:

Heres my take.
Mego wanted to expand the Star Trek line with cool aliens for the crew to fight.
The Gorn was a good as any choice, and Mego already had a Lizard-Man head tooled.
But how to dress the Gorn ?
Stick it in a Klingon outfit !
But green looked really odd with the brown sleeves and pants.
Solution: make it brown !
Also, before the re-colorized DVDs came out a few years ago, the Animated Series featured a brown Gorn character in Jihad.Comment

VERY NICE!
Nice display. Nice collection.
I'm curious, are any of the Megos in there toys from when you were a kid and if so, how can you tell them apart? I think I see some Emces and customs in there and it got me curious.
Also, what did you use and/or how did you make your backdrop for the Enterprise Megos?
Thanks for posting your display. I may put up my small collection later, but mostly it is now Emce as I just got 22 Emces recently I think I has maybe 20 Trek Megos before that. I have a complete Crew and 2 Klingons from childhood. And an Enterprise playset.-

TAS (The Animated Series)?
Is Thelin Blue?
There seems to be a Strong link between TAS and Trek Megos. Someone should post screenshots of Kirk from TAS and the Kirk Mego... but anyway if the Brown Gorn looks like TAS Gorn, that is surely it.
I don't know the history, but if the Gorn came out just after the Klingons and before the next wave, then the Gorn would have also been wearing the only "enemy" uniform I guess. And it did have a "vest." And the Brown uniform may "blend" with the Brown Gorn... giving the illusion of the Vest...
I understand and appreciate that Mego wanted to give us stuff to play with, but really. I mean... oh well that is probably best for another thread.-

Star Trek The Animated Series DVD Screencaps :: TrekCore
original Thelin (as aired):
hilarious, considering the racial slur Shras used for Humans !
remastered Thelin (DVD):
Star Trek The Animated Series DVD Screencaps :: TrekCore
original Sord (never identified as such, but I assumed was a Gorn):

Anyone who owned an original can spot an EMCE from across the room. There is absolutely no worry of ever confusing them.
Everything in this display is EMCE except:
my vintage Gorn from my childhood (the only Alien that survived)
a Neptunian I scored here at the Marketplace (I had to have one)
a Lizard I got on eBay in vintage Klingon shirt and Kirk pants (Doc Mego bandolier and dagger) with craft store ribbon for a sash
a Playmates Talosian head and robe on a CTVT "Teen Titans" body
and technically, one of the Romulans, while not EMCE per se, is 100% Doc Mego parts
oh yeah: the Red Shirts are EMCE Scotties with CTTV headsComment

Still not a Blue Andorian...
And I don't know about Sord, but there is OBVIOUSLY a Green Gorn behind the Orion Slave Girl to our Right in this picture
Thanks for posting the links.-

I never had an issue with the Gorn. I always considered it to be a version of the aliens from Arena that the Klingons pressed into service of their Navy. We humans have differences in skin color and facial structure across our planet, so too would the Gorn.
Heres another possible explanation:
Upon hearing of the Gorn through the intercepted reports from Capt Kirk after the Cetus III incident, the Klingon Empire became very interested in an intelligent, space-faring humanoid reptilian race with inhuman strength and stamina to conquer. They searched the galaxy until they came upon what they assumed were these Gorn. As had happened on Earth centuries ago when Humans from the European continent were looking for a trade route to a nation called India came upon the indigenous peoples of the North American continent, and mistook them for Indians (a name the Native Americans are still known by to this day), the race misnamed Gorn by the Klingons were conquered, and thus entered Klingon Imperial society and served as foot soldiers for the Empire.
In my mind, Megos Gorn is canon. My Gorn was always working alongside the Klingon as his second in command. I even armed both of them with little plastic sword-shaped toothpicks.Comment

They released "recolorized" DVDs of TAS? Really? When?

Thanks for posting the links.
I sometimes can't post pictures. I figured I'd look into it later. But this post HAD a picture in it when I posted it and now it is Gone!
In Firefox on my Mac, it is just not there.
In Safari there is a "?" icon.
When I hit "quote" it shows up in the Quote box as this html with [URL] tags instead of [IMG] tags...!!!!!

So here is the link to the Gorn pic I posted, fyi
Now on preview in Safari the "?" icon appears. Whatever.-

Yep, Gorn also
Yep, the Trial scene you posted seems to have a good Gorn. The pic I posted may have been from the same episode, but you'll have to follow the link to find out.-
