I like the bronze quality of the prototype on the Emcee packaging, but the pattern effect in Dave's photo is neat because it reminds me of the show.
I see what you mean about the size of the pattern, though.
Regarding the vintage Gorn, I hever thought he was terrible. Try dressing him in an Urko uniform--pretty cool.

Gorn vs. Gorn

The Gorn outfit on Dave's is not the outfit we are putting with the actual
production figure. It didn't look right on different samples, so we found
a bronze material that works better.
I sent Dave a pre-production sample Gorn as a thank you for his sewing
the prototype outfit that got sent to China. Hopefully one day he will
be offered a huge amount of money for it and be conflicted whether to
take the money or keep the rarity in his collection.
By the way, cost of material has never been a consideration in making
these. My guy in China sends me samples of a wide range of materials
and never tries to "guide" me towards one sample over another.
We rejected that "lizard skin" material because it was not really in scale
with an 8 inch figure. The segments seem too large for the figure - almost
mumu-like.Leave a comment:

more likely the old one is saying "he is a Gorn but we don't talk about it with outsiders."Leave a comment:

Looks like the new one is asking the old one what's wrong with him? Of course the old one is saying "don't ask,it's a long story."Leave a comment:

Absolutley NO comparison....the original looks like crap next to EMCE's version. Can't wait for him.Leave a comment:

I keep thinking that original Gorn would look great if you popped his head off and gave him a Klingon head like the ones in Next Gen & the movies. he already has the brown hands.

Great pic, Dave.
Is that the actual pleather tunic for the Emce Gorn? Looks great, better than the prototype.Leave a comment:

It's the same thing as all the regular EMCE figures, no different no limited editions.

Anyone know if this is one of those "limited edition" ones that cost more than the other figures? Or will he be priced in the $16-$18 range?
Personally I'm not a big fan of repro stuff and even less of new toys but this type of release is what I would buy. A new toy with a retro feel that is just as good quality-wise as a Mego and fits in seamlessly with my real Megos. Basically an extension of the Mego legacy and a figure that isn't a copy of an already available vintage figure. Plus if priced reasonably and not up there in the "collector-only" stratosphere of prices, I am onboard.

I love the new look and outfit 110% But I dont know... The little kid in me says this guy needs some sort of weapon. He's a cool futuristic lizard , a violent warrior. The other guy is lame but at least he has a laser. Heck I'd even go for the pointy rock he used in the show.
I know they never showed a gorn specific weapon in the show, movies or comics but it would be a great idea to come up with one. (Yeah I know they are already done and packaged up as is but this is what that little kid is saying)Leave a comment:
