more likely the old one is saying "he is a Gorn but we don't talk about it with outsiders."

Gorn vs. Gorn

The Gorn outfit on Dave's is not the outfit we are putting with the actual
production figure. It didn't look right on different samples, so we found
a bronze material that works better.
I sent Dave a pre-production sample Gorn as a thank you for his sewing
the prototype outfit that got sent to China. Hopefully one day he will
be offered a huge amount of money for it and be conflicted whether to
take the money or keep the rarity in his collection.
By the way, cost of material has never been a consideration in making
these. My guy in China sends me samples of a wide range of materials
and never tries to "guide" me towards one sample over another.
We rejected that "lizard skin" material because it was not really in scale
with an 8 inch figure. The segments seem too large for the figure - almost
mumu-like.Comment

I like the bronze quality of the prototype on the Emcee packaging, but the pattern effect in Dave's photo is neat because it reminds me of the show.
I see what you mean about the size of the pattern, though.
Regarding the vintage Gorn, I hever thought he was terrible. Try dressing him in an Urko uniform--pretty cool.WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.Comment

I need two of these for sure.
I am, after all, The Gorn Captain.....

As an adult, I'll never get that image out of my head.
I think Kirk wouldn't have fought him. He would have said "well, hello, what's a nice lizard like you doing in a place like this....?".

That pre-production looks great. You hit the nail on the head with that one. I'm not so sure I like the bronze quite as well. Perhaps it was more difficult to match the pattern up with the other samples on larger runs and that's why they didn't look quite right. But too bad, it's very impressive. I've got a Gorn from the Art Asylum line that was out a couple years ago. It is perfect to the show although he is just slightly shorter (about 1/4-1/2") standing next to a Mego Kirk.
I'm not sure how they were able to match the material but it's made from the soft plastic like a batman cowl and glued on the figure. Since I landed this and it displayed well, I didn't feel the desire to hunt a Dunsel custom of that version, although his work is excellent and I wouldn't mind landing one.Comment

New Gorn is awesome!
Both of them looks great!
I'll collect the original Mego Gorn go with that new one.
I'll get double new Gorns (on the right side seen pic above) when they're coming out by next month!
One is for loose vintage Mego Star Trek crew & Aliens and one is for display with clamshell on the wall with EMCE Star Trek & Aliens with it's original clamshells with 2 holes on the top is for holding them on the wall close by the originals in my collection.Comment
