      FAO Schwarz is a specialty toy store. If you ever saw "Big" with Tom Hanks, the toy store where he and Robert Loggia danced "Chopsticks" on the big piano was FAO Schwarz.

      "TRU" is simply short-hand for Toys-R-Us.

        TRU= Toys R Us

        FAO Schwarz is a high end toy store.

        If I'm wrong sorry Pat but I think those are what they are.

            They still have a big store in midtown Manhattan next across from the Plaza Hotel
            on the edge of Central Park - 57th and 5th Ave.

            It is nice to see this page on their website. It is pure joy.

                This is just awesome on so many levels. First...its really great to see these out on the shelves at Christmas time just like back in the day. Second...its really great to see someone like Paul who has done so much for the hobby have this degree of success with his venture. Kudos Paul!!!

                    Not really FAO aint what it used to be. it is pretty much a nostalgia and collectible toy catalog

                      Unrelated, but my plug for FAO..:

                      One of the coolest Christmases on record was when I first started 'recollecting' vintage Joe items and two days before Christmas 1996 I called down to the Chicago store and ordered the 'new' limited edition GI Joe Astronaut. They cautioned me that it most likely won't get to me by Christmas Eve, but I didn't care, since I was still single and living life!

                      Lo and behold.. I got home from evening church about 10pm on the 24th and there it was.. Shimmering under the moonlight at my side door..

                      FAO made my Christmas that year..!
                      Peace.. Through Superior Firepower.

                        I finally made it to FAO Schwarz last Thanksgiving while I was in NYC to hear my wife's ensemble sing in Carnegie Hall. I spent the entire afternoon there. I just basked in the glory of all those toys, investigated every nook and cranny, and then had a chocolate shake at the antique soda fountain. It was singularly one of the coolest times I've ever had.

                        But how much cooler would all that be if you could see a Mego display at FAO? Mind numblingly cool! Seeing them in a Christmas Catalog is like travelling back in time to my childhood. Priceless!

                        Congrats on another step in making it big time, Paul!
