I was initially blindsided by the loud color scheme, but have grown very fond of it. What I like is that it really plays up complimentary colors and it almost seems like something they would have done in the 70s for a knock-off... making the head an intense purple for what reason, I don't know.
The Phantom monster character is sort of a B-list monster traditionally- cool, but not on par with a frankenstein or Dracula, so it's kind of hard to make him stand out in the monster crowd. The CAW purple really sets him apart as his own Phantom, distinct from those Phantoms that have gone before him. IMHO
