This is cool news, and very exciting. I must add that IMO that Throne and Puppy are an absolute must. Then I'd have to find him a horse as well. And a cave to live in.
"Steel-like jaws clacked away, each bite slashing flesh from my body - I used my knife and my hands, and when they were gone, my bloody stumps - and yet the turtles came."
I came close to buying a white Breyer horse in anticpation a month or two back but it was a "dirty" white so I didn't. I think Dave said that someone is sculpting a throne and Devil for a Con exclusive or something. Castaway Phantom Question - Mego Talk
I was fortunate enough to "play" with these figures for the photo shoot, and I gotta say, they are fantastic. They have that Mego feel, but it is taken up several notches for today's discerning collector. See that comic strip panel photo in the upper left? That position is not photo-manipulated. The Phantom can hold his guns in that position. How cool is that?
I gotta give a shout-out to my pal Bobby White who took the photos and helped me stage everything. He's a talented guy, and is quite stoked to be playing with action figures professionally!

Yes, I'd say they'd stand up to play just like a Mego would, and maybe better. We posed them A LOT and they still felt tight and sturdy afterwards! Also the arm-to-shoulder connection is sturdier and better done than Mego (and also more articulated), so that common issue with kids and Megos shouldn't be a problem. My soon-to-be 7 year old son is looking forward to them as well!
The photos were taken before Dave and Jason got in more of their bodies, so yes Achmed is built on a Type 2 Mego in those photos, but he will be produced with the same Castaway body as the Phantom and Captain Action and Dr. Eville.
I've only been waiting 35 years for a Mego-style Phantom, so great job, guys. I'm in for at least 4 early bird Phantoms, I'm really looking forward to seeing the bonus goodies.
Jason asked me to post some shots of the final package art, so you know what to expect. I had a BLAST on these.
The package fronts of Phantom and Achmed will have the same art, but will have their own personal name or title over the Phantom logo. I was trying to go for a modern pulpy-feel on the front, also inspired by the old Charlton Phantom covers.
You can really appreciate my friend Bobby's awesome photos of these figures on those package backs. I'm so glad we were able to capture that moody feel we were going for!
