Remco McDonaldland: Memories and Collectables

I was lucky a few days ago when somebody offered the Remco McDonaldland playset at close to $50. It has some issues, the box (yes I it came with the box) was beat up and dropped in a corner. The board was beginning to split so I went ahead and used an blade to separate it for fear of it getting worse. Over all that is the worse, the best is it came with nearly a complete set original figures (missed Officer Big Mac). I was lucky and found on ebay a nice set of Fry Kids and even added the McKids Birdie the Early Bird (since Huckleberry did not release her).

I grew up watching the McDonaldland Commericals and yes we even ate there from time to time. Now I cannot stand to eat there because of the horror stories about what is actually in the food, but I still love McDonaldland and its characters.

So I am asking:

* Who here collects this lineup?

* Who bought the remakes?

* What would you like to have seen come from this line-up?

I have the Play set complete...all the accessories are still bagged - the box was moldy so I tossed it. I have the original figures with the exception of Captain and Grimace...found them on ebay last year for a $20 BIN each.

Maybe I will post a pic tonight.

I read this somewhers and it will make you think:

In McDonaldland:

The shakes come from the Triple Thick Milkshake Volcanoes

The Hamburgers come from Hamburger Patches

The Fries come from French Fry Fields

The Fried Apple Pies come from the Apple Pie Trees

The fish sandwich come from Fillet O Fish Lake.

So why is there a McDonalds in McDonaldland and who works there???

I did not like how I had them spaced out so I redid it a little to show the McDonaldland trash can and Captain Cook Hench-Fry Guy. I also have an extra tree. Sometime this week I plan on redoing the trees to add more foliage and add pies to them. I am also going to add in the Hamburger and Fry bushes.

I too loved those vintage commercials. There was nothing like them. I have all the Remco figures complete as a carded set and loose. I also have the play set complete and boxed. When I first bought these about 15 years ago, I actually set everything up and shot it the way it looked in the Sear's catalog. I'll dig up those pics and post them. It's a fun set to have. Congrats on your score!

I am curious, what happened to Huckleberry McDonaldland figures? I have seen the images from wave 2 that would have included Birdie the Early Bird to the collection and then rumors of wave three that would have included Mac Tonight, CosMac, Uncle O'Grimacey, Iam Hungry.

I cannot get over my luck on McDonaldland. I just won the Prototype heads to Big Mac and Mayor McCheese for $10.

I ordered this when I won the McDonaldland lot thinking this is the only figure missing from the lot and I got it for less than the reproduction cost so I can open it carefully and add him to my collections. Then I find two loose figures so I bought them to make one complete version. Now I have a packaged figure that maby down the road I will see to a fellow collector looking to complete there line.

I've always liked the Remco figures and I was really disappointed when the Huckleberry line didn't continue.

Oh wow! Had they expanded that line to this extent, I would have invested in the whole series. Right now I just have everything Remco put out. But those are very cool.
