Final Dida Displays Playsets-Legion of Doom, HOJ, Trek

As I said on my site, I've nearly run out of inventory to make carrying case playsets. Because of the limitations in inventory I can only do modified versions of my 3 most popular sets.

Star Trek: Please see this thread for details.

Legion of Doom: I can do the Legion of Doom as shown on my site. I have to do a special modification to make it work, but it's essentially the same set as always. Please note that the podium and table are sold seperately by Laser Mego

Hall of Justice: UPDATE: I have determined I can do a Hall of Justice with both the jail and the viewscreen box, the only thing that's different from the original now is the trap door is gone.

Each one of these sets will be $250 each, not including shipping. I am looking to get deposits ($50) in by March 15th or as soon as I fill the remaining spots. My goal will be to deliver the sets in May.

This will be the final run of Dida Display carrying case playsets. There is a remote possibility that I will order more Dida parts from the factory, but it's very, very unlikely. I only mention it because I don't want you to go nuts buying the very last ones only to be mad at me because I decided to make more.

I am also selling DIY backdrops kits on my site are still available for sale at any time. They are $25 each, shipping Priority mail flat rate $10 in the U.S. You get 2 backdrops that you need to cut apart yourself in whatever configuration you like. Then I'll give you links to print the artwork I have made or you can do your own.

Thanks for checking them out and thanks for all the support on this adventure. email me at [email protected]

Edit: I also have one Deluxe Planet of the Apes Playset available for $350.

I can't tell you how sad this makes me... These playsets are amazing.

With the resurgence of the 1:9 scale, I was hoping there would incentive for these to continue. Heck, we haven't even gotten our Lost Swan station playset yet!

Perhaps a "Save the Dida" campaign could change your mind?

Any Triboxes left? If not, I'll be purchasing some corner DIY pieces and a shelf unit.

It makes me a little sad too. If I can find a different business model--one that is much more a DIY type deal that doesn't require so much labor on my part--it could come back. But the numbers are against it, IMO. They are costly to make domestically in small runs and the demand isn't there for a large overseas run. You're up against the expectation that they be cheap--I'm surprised how many I've sold at these high prices, but most people don't want to spend more than $50 on a playset, understandably. Then you have the problem of space. Playsets take up space, and even though I designed these to fit better on a bookshelf than Mego sets did it's still a hard sell for cramped toy collectors.

Tri-boxes are also on their way out, Sharry. I can put one together for you special. They were never a big seller and are a pain to make.

The Toyroom bought some of my inventory, so he can still make his sets as long as he has them.

Scott.., thanks for all you've done..!!. I'm just glad I'm one of the lucky ones to jump on your playsets.

I'm looking forward to making room somewhere for my new Baxter Building..!!

I love the smaller tri-boxes and will definitely be getting a couple for my Spiderman villains and Space:1999 figures, later this year.

Your art is still so inspiring to me. You absolutely know how to make a picture "fun" at first glance.

I would think the tri-boxes would sell well, being less expensive, and smaller yet still a great accent to a toy shelf.

To anyone who's on the fence with whether or not to get one of these, do it. I have a Super-Friends Hall of justice playset and it's beautiful.

Me too, but... small is deceptive. They are as much work to make than a large display box and the expectation is they be even cheaper.

@Jim--Thank you, it's nice of you to say.

Added the Planet of the Apes playset. I still have one available.

Only speaking the truth Scott. You have such a wonderful talent for these displays / backdrops. Its a shame that kids don't really "play" like we used to. If that were the case I could see you doing VERY well in the toy industry.

Still you're a very creative fellow ( you came up with these right) so I'm sure that inspiration will strike again and be even more fun and incredible!

Not at all, thanks, Paul. Didas wouldn't have been as cool without your amazing furniture.

                          Hey Paul,

Once I get my Superfriends tribox stage set, I will be ordering Trek chair and a HOJ table.

My stately mansion playset is one of the centerpieces for my Mego display. I desperately wish I could get a Legion of Doom, but I don't think it's in the cards for me at this time.

Yeah, I got a Batcave, a POTA Tri-box/stage set, a carrying case for figures, and what I like to call a Flip-A-Doo (Batcave on one side, Star Trek on the other) for my friend Shawn. It's really ashame Didas couldn't have gone further, they're really great!

(No Scott did NOT pay me to say this, I merely speak the truth.)
