Update - I've finished checking out the rest of my Space 1999 figures by totally removing them and handling them - 3 of the male figures were broken at the hip joints with their bottom half just falling off.
I went the distance and bought the Space 1999 set and the complete Monster,Western, Robin Hood, Knight, and pirate lines.
The bodies are useless other than Fat torsos but they need restrung with NeoMego parts.
The heads have a lot of good sculpts but the paint rubs off.
For me seeing how great the Ivanhoe head was just made me want to go get a vintage one.
I've also just gotten the Monsters I, Western, Knights, Pirates, Robin Hood figures and a Skeleton and while I haven't finished checking them all out I havn't found anything broken so far. The clothes, accessoiries and other stuff is great and I have no complaints with their customer service either. As for their bodies being cheaper, keep in mind that their figures cost $5-$10 each comapred to EMCE and Mattel which run around $20 each.
Oh - and I agree, their Skeletons are SUPER!
I have placed several orders with CTVT, and only twice have I had a broken part. The replacement part arrived even faster than my original orders. They are fast, and very accomodating. When I scrape up enough money to place an order with anyone, I am really anxious to get it. Waiting 2 weeks or more for my stuff to arrive, while my customs are on hold, makes me crazy. Thanks CTVT! I like their clothing and accessories for customs, the bodies that I have are OK. We have a Batman that has a CTVT body and my kids don't know the difference. I just wish they would expand on their custom clothing and accessories. Their prices are great!
Today is really the first time I've looked at their site. They have some good deals on stuff for customs (boots and heads etc). I think I might give them a try.
Yeah, I suppose its my best bet to just view these figures as "$5 complete outfits". I havent heard many complaints as to the quality of their clothing, so I will assume that the stitching and materials used are up to code? Of the CTVT suits that I own, my only real complaint is that my Dracula's suit feels like it was tailored for a Lion Rock, but ehh... Heres hoping that their Super Legends, Space, and Clowns suits are decently made...
I'm supposed to be getting some yellow boots for someone as well as a few other bits, I plan on doing a "bulk order" once the H&R Block monies arrive...
If anyone else wants to jump on the bandwagon, feel free, I wont be ordering for another week or so, just let me know. I'd imagine that its a bit of a pain in the azz if you only want a hat or a pistol, to have to pay as much for shipping as you would for the item itself.
I just got a set of the Knights and they are easily the most solid bodies I've gotten from them. CTVT actually "feels" the closest to original Mego, in terms of weight and texture.
