Toy Biz took survey's to select characters with the Famous Covers figures!

This is a fascinating site. When Toybiz was creating the Famous Covers line, they were going to the fans not only for character selection but what kind of gloves and boots to place on these figures. This link below shows you the result of that survey. If you click on Ironman under the Series IV link in this website, you also get to the see his evolution from original concept to final product. Also look at the Vision. He was more mego-like in his conceptual state than what we finally got. His boots looked great as cloth creations. This is really interesting because critics of the line always said Toybiz seemed to be disconnected with fans in the process. And yet this tends to suggest just the opposite. Here's the link.

I think I took that survey many moons ago.

Yes, I remember quite a bit of insight into the line as it was being developed. Toy Biz was definitely listening, although they sometimes threw in some curveballs. Good times.

What I find interesting is Dr. Strange was high on the list of recommended characters, yet he never got made, even though most of the other characters which polled lower did. I wonder if perhaps the Tony Stark head on Iron Man was going to double for Dr. Strange as well? I bet they might have been thinking like that then decided against it, because they were already doubling up on the Parker head. Another interesting point in this survey - The majority of respondents did NOT want painted hands. They even preferred mittens over that, which I found interesting. An entirely different scenario today with the Mattel line and the opinions I read here.
