just occurred to me - that is going to be a LOT of meticulous cutting for someone. For the main box, do you have a source for light-weight, brown chipboard you plan to adhere to; or just gonna use a cheap alternative like posterboard?
Since it is adhesive backed, I have encountered removable and permanant in my days. Removable sucks...big time. Another factor (again, from my days) will be humidity. laying that label stock to its media can be difficult once room humidity gets over 58-60 percent. It will wrinkle like the devil and you will loose a lot of product.

The boxes will be made to the best of my ability. Obviously not massed produced so yes there will be some meticulous cutting, but I am used to it from building other types of boxes. As far as the orange it was put there for contrast and to help show the white areas without drawing lines that may show up after cutting. I am testing out materials, and I will use whatever will make the box look good and function properly. I have a good reputation as a box maker, if you are concerned with the care and attention to detail please refer to my Ebay feedback, using my user name dengar. I've sold and made over 300 figure boxes with no complaints. Thanks for your interest.

I can attest to dengar's expertise in repro box making....I have a couple of his repro boxes and the care that he takes in construction as well as print quality is AWESOME and that is why I chose him for this project. I have seen a lot of repro boxes, some were okay and a few really stood out.....dengar's are among the finest hands down. Out of all the boxes I have purchased in the past his are the only ones that I've bought that have not come undone. I don't know what's in the Xyron adhesive but it is some strong stuff and holds up beautifully over time. Please do not worry I have chosen well and you will get a terrific high quality product from dengar. He is not new to what he does. He is a seasoned graphic design veteran and dedicated to bringing us all (myself included) a superior repro box. Thanks for the questions and concerns but rest assured we have everyone's best interests (as well as our own) in mind and will do whatever is necessary to accomplish the task at hand to the very best of our abilities.

        Stay tuned.....more to follow soon.

Actually we're three.....me, dengar and quintjawsman (on 'Operation Orca') - our mold maker/caster of 'Aquashark'.....guess you could say we're the Three A-Megos.......okay it was 'the white elephant in the room' at the time and somebody had to say it......and I'm just sarcastic enough to have done it all by myself, LOL.

We'll continue keeping the good folks on the site updated as progress is made on this project and as always.......stay tuned......more to follow soon!

              Mego Repro Aquashark PROTOTYPE box

              Hello all,

Greg (aka dengar) just sent me these pics of the assembled prototype box (minus the insert of course which is coming soon). I have to say it made my jaw hit my computer table as it dropped open upon viewing it's magnificence! It's a thing of beauty!!! Dengar has given me permission to post these pics of the first prototype box.....please keep in mind that this is a prototype and does not represent the final production model.

I'll be calling a company tomorrow to see if they carry the appropriate thickness and size chipboard for the production models. The chipboard used for this box seen below is a little thicker than the production models will be (Greg said something the thickness of say a cereal box is what we're looking for) and will make the cuts especially around the top rounded corners of the box top flap easier to make. Greg told me his hand was killing him after all the die cuts were done for this prototype box.....and I don't doubt that as the one he used is made in book making. What we're looking for will be tougher to find but I'm determined that we'll find the closest thing to what we're looking for if it's out there.

              More to follow soon......stay tuned!

I am pleased to see so many happy fans! Greg is fantastic and cares greatly about his work and believe me it shows when you view his repro boxes up close and personal. He has pride in what he does and I am so thrilled that he agreed to work on this project. I look forward to sharing more updates with everyone as they become available.

My mold maker friend will be returning to Aquashark this week....I've seen pics of the intermediate cast of the shark and it is AWESOME!!!! Stay tuned, more to follow soon!
