    happy days quality?

found a few classic toys items at a store that was going out of business. i only snagged the richie cunningham, but it got me all nostalgic (which, i know, is the point). so now i find myself browsing amazon and ebay for good deals on more from the series.

i've not opened it (and am not sure that i will), but thought i'd ask you guys how the quality on these is.

i certainly don't need a new carded collection. but i find myself entertained by the thought of a potsie sitting on my monitor at work. and what is potsie without ralph malph? and, of course, i'll need a fonzie. and maybe a chachi too...

you guys know how that whole spiral goes. but i sure don't want to plunk down the change (even with the good deals to be had) if these toys are a mess out of the package.

    thanks!

Hi and welcome. CTVT is not exactly known for their high quality. The bodies tend to come apart, and the head paints are usually pretty so-so, but they are good for custom fodder, and are not typically overpriced. You get what you pay for. Some people love em.

I have every figure produced by CTVT and am yet to have a problem with any of them for display purposes. My six year old has a full set of the monsters that have held up to his rough play for going on six months now.
The question is do you have the Classic Television Toys version or the Classic Premier one?

I have bought a complete set loose and carded. I'm replacing the bodies with Doc Megos on the loose. I do not regret buying these at all. How else would you get an Al figure? But I must admit that about one out of every 3 or 4 CTVT figures has broken on me.

Go to CTVT's site for great deals on the other Happy Days guys, and the best shipping around.

            Hmmmm....

The Happy Days figures were some of their first, so there's a good chance of getting really bad bodies. But if you swap 'em out for later bods, or Doc, or original Mego bodies there shouldn't be a problem.

I bought the entire set carded for a song from CTVT and then even purchased a few extras loose because they were BEYOND dirt cheap. I looked at it like this - What are the remote chances...in our lifetime anyway... that any toy company will do another extensive release of Happy Days characters? I would say the chances are slim to none. The bodies I have are holding up nicely. That's not to say I haven't gotten ones where they didn't. But I think if you buy them you should go into it with the expectation the joints, especially around the feet will break. But hey, their cheap and the sculpts are pretty cool. Plus the clothes are top notch. I think you win even under worse case scenarios. If you like the cast of Happy Days that well, I would jump in and get them while you still can. Because when their gone, they will be gone.
