I guess I didn't know this because the TV version was a little too mature for me when it came out. I'm not even sure I knew about it til I stumbled across the stills on a google search. I definitely never knew the figures were based on anything but the book.

I think the Martian is wearing the pre-Snuggie. That was their contribution to Earth culture. Now we have "The Snuggie". No wonder their extinct!

I think Brian was referring to how cheaply made the bodies were. He is correct. The head sculpts and card art are the only thing going for them. But they are very cool. I wouldn't mind having a set sometime, but since they are not true Mego, they are worth more than I am willing to pay for them.

Have you seen the series since? It's definitely worth a watch. It's a little slow in parts, but still great sci-fi. Amazon has the DVD for a good price

Hmmmm....

The heads are really nice. The rounded one with the one "eye" is a little soft detailed, but still pretty accurate. I'd love a repro set of heads, but nobody seems to make 'em.

They usually go for more than I pay for most megos, and they don't show up all that often.

But I've never seen the mini. I read the book as a kid.
