    Famous covers scale?

Anyone know why both the Toy Biz Famous Covers figures and the Hasbro Signature Series figures say they are 8" tall on the packaging, but both are actually 9" figures? What, no one had a ruler handy during the design phase? I liked both series, but it would have made a world of difference if they were the same scale as my Megos.

Yes, they are 9", but the packaging specifically says they are 8", just wondering what they were really aiming for.

You buy it, measure it, get ****y, but they made a sale.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

They were originally supposed to be 8 inches, that's why the FC's are pinheads. The heads were sculpted for smaller bodies. Something went wrong somewhere with the body supplier. Not really sure why Hasbro put 8 inches on the Signature series as it was obvious from the early pics they were using the same bodies from the Silver Age DC line.

I think they were aiming for Mego fans, but they missed us by an inch.

I say this as someone who's got a complete set of FC figures... and DC 9", and Hasbro Signature Series, and Real Heroes...

I heard when the designers made them, they were told to produce 8" bodies and did so, not counting the heads.

They should've spotted that with the first prototype and still would've had time then to fix it, if they really wanted

Seriously. I'd love these figures a lot more if they were truly 8". We got so many marvel characters, and some of the sculpts - like Sabretooth and Carnage - are really great. As it is, these guys are more oddities and curiousities. In my mind they're more Mego-inspired than Mego-like and I consider them an entirely different category of figure, rather than knockoffs.

Maybe; but we don't know who was making the final decision, or how close to the wire it was, or how much money they'd already sunk into them vs how much they anticipated them to sell.

I can see one company getting the size wrong, but it's strange that Hasbro then released figures and did the same thing, 9" marked as 8", unless they were intentionally keeping theirs in scale with the Famous Covers line.

The only time the Hasbro stuff was advertised as 8 inches was the Marvel ones. The earlier DC ones were not promoted as 8 inches tall. Interesting that the later FC's seem to have gotten the head size issue somewhat corrected.
