    CTVT Fat Body Problem

I just got a bunch of CTVT figures and most of the stuff was pretty decent, though naturally, there was plenty of flash, some broken (and soon to be broken) parts which I expected, prepared myself for and see no reason to whine about given the low price, but the fat body figure I received had an interesting problem that I'm hoping somebody here has encountered before. Can anybody tell me how to deal with the floppy (as in CANNOT STAND INDEPENDENTLY) leg problem that seems to be inherent with this type of figure. Or is it? Did Mego use shorter rubber cords for the original fat body design (so the legs would actually have enough tension in them to enable the figure to stand independently)? I have a Mego Boss Hogg on card with the vintage fat body, but I've never freed him from his cellophane coffin. Is there a way to tie or otherwise tighten the rubber cords inside? Anybody dealt with this particular customizing problem before? Thanks!

I don't know if you can shorten the cords to correct the problem.

If worst comes to worst, you might have to completely restring the body yourself, and adjust the tension accordingly.

I have a vintage Grandpa Walton that stands very nicely on his own, so maybe it's just them.

Easiest solution is to restring the body yourself, which you basically have to do with almost every CTVT body

^^^ Except the kid and Lion Rock size ones. For some reason they got those right.

Really? Strange they got those right, but not the 8" bodies

What kind of custom are you making with it?

I'm thinking of getting some kid bodies myself, but they don't deliver the base body until December.

I took apart a CTVT monster body to restring it, got it all apart and then realized that it was beyond my power to put it back together. D'oh.

I've been there, done that, got the T-shirt, etc.

Cut those elastic bands and re-string him.
