Switching CTVT Bodies with DM Bodies

I have actually been Switching the bodies on CTVT reissues. I have been Switching them all to DM bodies . I haven't Done the Knights or Pirates or Mad Monsters yet. I have some concerns though on these ones.

    1. Knights- I feverishly want these off the CTVT crap bodies. I am little nervous to screw with rhem though because I know the armor is glued . Anyone have any suggestions ?

2 Pirates - I am switching out the bodies on these this weekend. Two concerns , Blackbeards body. Did DM make a fat body ? and Long John Silver Did he make a Repro Peg Leg ? If so I am have struggled ( I know strange as it sounds ) Popping the new pins out on the DM bodies without screwing up the legs. Suggestions or help please ?

    3. Mad Monsters series 1 and 2 .- I am almost ready to switch these. What worries me is I have read and looking at the figures it appears the outfits are too tight . Has anyone successfully switched these ? Even if snug for display purposes will it work ????

I thought I saw years ago on Paul's site the Fat Torso body , and a repro peg leg, but obviously since I was away from collecting for a few years I am not sure now.

I HOPE EVERYONE IS HAVING A GREAT NEW YEAR , BEST WISHES TO ALL AND HERE'S TO HOPING TO A GREAT YEAR FOR ALL THINGS MEGO, VINTAGE, REPRO, AND NEW STUFF !

If you're careful the armor is no problem to break off. They pull apart quite easily. Like most CTVT stuff the glue job is a terrible job and not to difficult to bypass.

I'm sure you can grab an original fat torso and swap Doc's arms and legs onto it if you can't find an original fat mego body complete which might be easier to locate. I would soak the parts in hot water which makes it easier to separate and pop the pin on the peg leg out then do the same with Doc's leg though I think his factory figures use a one piece joint and not a two piece so you may need one of his replacement pins to finish the transfer.

The original 4 mad Monsters switched over no problem for me though I used original T1 bodies. I would use the CTVT lower arms to keep the Monster hands cuz I don't think the wrist pins will swap with Doc's. I have used the Frankie CTVT suit on Doc's bodies with no problems.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

I did the CTVT to Dr. Mego body switch this past fall. The Dracula and Mummy bodysuits will not fit on a Dr. Mego body but Frankenstein and Wolfman will fit. All of the Knights and Merry Men outfits will fit on Dr. Mego bodies. For Friar Tuck I just bought a vintage Mego fat body on eBay since Doc/Paul does not make them.

With the CTVT armor you make an exacto knife incision on the seam and the armor basically splits apart on its own.

I stuck a CTVT Frankenstein's hands on a Doc body for my Bizarro. It seemed like it worked okay.

Its a shame that someone who can produce some quality product doesn't do repros like this. If people are willing to pay CTVT for their crap + shipping and then by Doc's bodies + shipping just to swap them all together, it would make sense to me that if somebody could produce the quality at a reasonable price they would sell great.

        Am I overstating the obvious?

i swicthed out a group of ctvt pirates with T1 bodies and what i did was keep the ctvt body and restrung the T1 body with the peg leg. He cant stand up straight cause the peg leg is shorter than the normal leg, but thats how the origianl is too.

That's what I figured would happen. I figured the peg leg is sort of short to put on the Emce/Doc Body. How did you get the Pin out without breaking the peg leg ? I tried but its like the peg leg is stuck ....? glue or something .....wonder if this another poor QC issue by CTVT.

I totally agree. I can't Imagine that CTVT has an exclusive lisence here. I think EMCE should look into redoing the releases that CTVT has done.
