    CTVT Female Bodies

Are the CTVT female bodies just as bad as their male bodies? I noticed that CTVT advertises the female bodies as "new & improved".

While I haven't seen the new-and-improved CTVT female bodies, I'd picked up 5 of the previous ones off of eBay. There were OK - one had two right hands, another had a cracked arm, and all of them had loose waists (though, once you put an outfit on them, they were servicable). How long ago were the new and improved bodies released?

I'm waiting on Doc Mego's new female bodies - if they're anything like his male bodies, they'll be nice and tight and have a bit of heft to 'em. Who knows, maybe Cast-A-Way Toys should consider making a female body as well to go with their new Mego-esque male body.

I'm not sure. They've been listed on their website since February when I first visited it.

I probably should wait as well. I'm just in a "mood" right now and wanted to get some heroines in my JLA display.

Hopefully some affordable female heads will be available as well.

          CTVT Female Bodies

Those bodies suck! I've had feet break off, hands, and I even had a whole torso fall apart because it wasn't glued properly.

I'm waiting for Doc's bodies as well. He's assured me that they will be available in either late October, or early November.

We're in for a bit of a wait, but then again, I've been waiting for the little dears ever since he announced he was making them!

Let's all try to be patient folks. It's not Doc's fault that the people in China send their stuff on a slow boat instead of by air mail.

Have these people never heard of shipping overnight?

No, Doc, I'm not talking about you (in case you were wondering).

I replaced all of my male CTVT bodies with Doc bodies where I could (Knights, Merry Men) but it doesn't work for Dracula and Mummy.

Last year I ordered a green CTVT female for ST's Marta & was disappointed:
just as poor as most of their other stuff.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

I might've just gotten some lucky batches, but I never had a problem with CTVT's flesh, brown, or glow in the dark, MALE bodies. The colored ones (red, green, blue, etc.) had the pigeon leg problems, though. Bodies were pretty sturdy, stand without problems, etc.

Doc Mego's bodies are awesome, though - they feel like you could actually play with 'em and they'd be none the worse for wear.

JediJaida's right though - we might get the good Doctor's female bodies by years end, and that's not too far off. Can't wait - my Mego Spidey needs a Mary Jane to snuggle with, so...

                    Hmmmm....

I've got a few decent CTVT female bodies, but most of 'em are pretty bad. NEVER get the neckless ones; the body is a different mold altogether and it's bad to begin with.

Actually I do get bodies from China by FedEx - it costs about $1.00 a body, but
I have them in about 24 hours and I can track the shipment online.

Right now, my factory is getting Chekov, Cheron, Zaius, and Zira out the door
and onto a boat. They have not given me a hard date yet for the female
bodies and the Commander X heads, but based on past experience, I expect
to get them by mid-November, hopefully a little sooner.

I have made a neck plug adaptor for the CTV "neckless" females so you can
put a Mego head on them. I bought a lot of female bodies from CTV and find
that most of them are broken at the wrists and ankles.

I have been recycling broken female upper arms. I have gotten so many female bodies over the years with broken elbows that they accumulated. I tried an old broken female upper arm as a neck plug on a Zira and it worked out pretty well, at lease until I get a real one. Think green! LOL

                          CTVT Female Bodies

                          Thanks for the update, Paul.

I read somewhere on this board that the reason CTVT female bodies are such crap is because they use recycled plastic instead of virgin plastic for the bodies.

Something in the recycling process makes the plastic weaker than it was, and it gets very brittle, hence a lot of breakage.

Mid-November won't be too bad, I suppose, it's only about three or four more weeks, as October is nearly over.

As long as they get here before Christmas, I don't mind.

Of course, if they put it off til next year, I guarantee that everyone on this board will hear me screaming in frustration all over this continent!

Thanks for the update, Doc! I'm going to need quite a few of the female bodies for my customizing, so this is great that we'll get 'em by mid-November... maybe (hey, I'm a realist here!).

                            Thanks again!

                              >I have made a neck plug adaptor for the CTV "neckless" females so you can
put a Mego head on them.

It's not worth the trouble. The torso is a completely different mold from the regular body, and it's clunkier and quite often miscast.

                              >I bought a lot of female bodies from CTV and find that most of them are broken at the wrists and ankles.

I haven't had an ankle problem; but I've had a few broken forearms. I've had the same problem with a fair number of ORIGINAL Mego vodies too. The forearm is kinda thin, and pushing the wrist piece in puts a lot of stress on them.

                              >I read somewhere on this board that the reason CTVT female bodies are such crap is because they use recycled plastic instead of virgin plastic for the bodies.

Well.... the ones I"ve seen had a lot of extra flash which wasn't trimmed when they were assembled. The extra bits prevent the pieces from fitting together and puts the pieces under a lot of unneccessary stress. I think that's the main reason for the breakage.

And the problems seem oddly consistent. (If you take the left foot off a male body you can usually see how the hole for the ankle pin was distended 'cos it didn't line up right with the holes on the foot.)

                              Don C.
