    Toughest repro body?

Hey mego people! What repro body...Doc Mego, Castaway, CTVT, Type3, combination of parts, or other...would you say is the most unbreakable? I have a project with some kids in mind. I want them to have some nice toys to keep when it is done.

    Thanks!

Yeah, the Doc's bodies are pretty sturdy, but the arms don't have the range of motion that the other repros might have.

First off, my Type 3 body is a custom, hand built body cast in resin.
That being said, from a "hero customizer" stand point, I would go with the Castaway body. More heroic looking and a classic "hero" build.
But, for a classic "mego" look, either reconditioning an old original or building a true "mego-like" custom, Dr Mego cant be beat.
It just boils down to what look a person is going for.
Notice I did not mention the CTVT body.

Yeah, I noticed that about the CTVT body. I am leaning towards Doc at this point. I was wondering if Castaway's more complex shoulders would be an extra thing a kid could break. I know there is little to fear with Doc's hands and knee joints. Thoughts?

The Castaway body seems pretty durable.

Ok. I think I will make some test figures ealy next month and try them out with my 3-year old. That'll be better than a wind tunnel test. LOL I'll make some with Castaway and Doc bodies and go from there. On the surface, I think the two will just be used for different types of styles along with the fat CTVT body with Doc limbs. Can't wait 'til Doc releases the girl bodies!

This sounds like the makings for a Megomuseum reality show--"Who has the toughest repro body!". ...Whos the old Megomuseum mascot from back near year one...Wink Blinkman? I'm sure he's looking for work these days and would love to host the show!!

As for the question itself...Doc's bodies rule. Especially since he fixed the too tight elastics issues way back.

I like the docs very much but my last EMCE (spock and mccoy) were still way too tight???
I'll have to check Scotty and see?
But they are sturdy for sure.I love the articulation of the new castaway as well and they also seem very sturdy. My theory of thought for destructive kids; The more articulation you have the bigger the possability of something breaking.

I had an issues with one of doc's bodies... It was one I had him dye (light grey) anyways,
the bands were so tight that it stretched the loops (on the arms) where the hooks attach to the body until they just snapped. I don't know if it was the dye that was used or just a bad body. I have several others and they never had that issue.

Paul Clark (Dr. Mego) did several tests and had his people in China pass stuff back in forth to make sure the figures were durable. I would say Dr. Mego's stuff is pretty tough. Paul Clark don't sell cheap crap. He is a good guy.

I don't think anybody has said otherwise.?

I have 6 EMCE Mego Star Trek figure bodies are in great shape and the correct elastics issues. The CTVT bodies and elastics issues are ran too tight and breaking apart the bodies often, so I recommended Dr.Mego's Repros and EMCE are the best.
