    Teaching Mego?

    Greetings,
So I am an urban NYC geek from Queens that went to School of Visual Arts for Cartooning.

Anyhow, Yknow...I met some girl (at least she's pretty) next think you know I am teaching Art on an Indian Reservation.

Soooooooooooooooooooo. I am making the call that this is a REPLICA CHAT topic, as of course I want to prepare the assignment to MAKE MEGOS!

If anyone has any wisdom on how to prepare such a thing please do share.

I imagine it would involved Sculpey, some crazy rubber band trick, sewing and painting.

Has this been done before in the instructional setting? I think I've seen pictures of Dr. Mego's basement that look like the kind of thing I would like to set up.

A little confused...You mean you want to have an art class assignment of making your own Mego using replica stuff?

Just guessing here but the way I read it he is looking to have the students design their own Megos? I'm assuming would have headless bodies and the students would make custom heads out of the modeling compound and then possibly choose outfits from Dr. Mego or create their own?
If this is the case then possibly this thread belongs in the custom section rather than replica section. He may be confusing replica with 'replicate'?
Like I said, just a guess on my part. Sorry if I'm way off.

I will be glad to help

So you went to SVA? One of my friends teaches a class in Toy Design there.

I have lectured there a few times showing them how to make a mold and cast a piece from it - mostly to show students how to prototype their ideas to show toy companies - not for production.

It may be very tough for the students to try to make bodies from scratch.
E-mail at [email protected] or PM me here so we can discuss this in detail.
