    Hulk and Thing

I'm kinda torn on this issue. Should Mego reissue Hulk and Thing as they were with the shorter height or corrected taller height and bigger size?

I'm sorta leaning towards an updated size, with more articulations, but the nostalgia in me creeps in at the same time. Then again, with an updated bigger body, Solomon Grundy, will be a cinch.

It should be with updated bodies for this New generation of Mego fans.

They should be released as they were in the past for the 50th Anniversary set, and altered and updated for the general Marvel release. Since the 50th Anniversary figures are supposed to be reproductions, they should be unaltered. They have released several variations of the individual DC characters, so that is how the Marvel figures should be made to us.

Every DC release has been on what Mego has hoped to be the new standard body. We haven't seen any purposefully created different body types, so a new body would be needed to get a Thing, Hulk, or even the Teen Titans for as-faithful-as-possible renditions for the 50th Anniversary line. I would love for Mego to just make adult Teen Titans using the existing body, but that won't work for The Hulk and Thing. For them to be made, a new body would have to be created, and I think it would have to be a body that can be re-used, like for a Solomon Grundy, so a full height body is what I think we would get. And I am fine with that. It may even make me want a Mego Hulk.

Exact replicas for the 50th anniversary and updated for later releases.

I'd like to see an updated female body and muscle body. No need to repeat the sins of the past.

None of those variations required extra tooling. They were all variations in the soft goods part of the figures, not on the figures themselves. Tooling a new body ups the production costs, making less likely to be a viable option.

If it's an anniversary set based on nostalgia, use the old bodies for Hulk and Thing. If it were a whole new line, I'd say make new ones, but it's pretty clear Mego is a product aimed at a nostalgia audience not a new audience. Not a bad thing, but be who you are and be the best you can be at it. Don't try to please 2 different audiences, you'll wind up pleasing neither.

                We're not getting exact replicas.

They're using a new bandless body. Since they're doing that, they're not "exact".

Furthermore, who's gonna pay for tooling on two bodies? Because that's what you're proposing when you say "vintage height for the anniversary, then bigger later".

Tooling costs money. And if we're only getting one shot at this, I opt for the body that will get the most reuse. A height corrected version, with added articulation.
Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figures

They already have tooling for a taller Hulk style body. Since Doc Mego is part of Mego and they use other tooling from the Doc Mego library.

This will be great. But will Mego make 3 different bodies? Original Hulk was small. Thing was bigger but still shorter than the regular Mego. A 3rd body will be needed for a correct sized Hulk which can also be used for example Solomon Grundy, Kiloworg, Abomination, Rhino, etc. I will be buying 'em regardless. Just happy to be able to have my child hood toys back .

I think it’s pretty safe to assume it’s going to be one hulk body and not different sizes, and it will be an 8” body.

Hulk and Thing were on the exact same body, with different forearm/hands. Thing’s cloth body suit may have made him appear very slightly taller.

Hulk and Thing used the same base body, just different arms; any minor height difference was due to the head sculpt. I'm pretty sure we'll get a full sized body, as they likely aren't going to make two new body molds. They're going to want one big body to use for any oversized figure now or in the future. Now, it's not that there isn't a potential use for a shorter muscle body, as there are characters who are wide but not tall. I don't think they'd see enough use for that, though, to justify a whole different mold, so I imagine we will get something like the Dr. Mego upscaled muscle figure with the extra articulation.

Many thanks for the clarification on the Thing and Hulk body. Even with a gun pointed in my head, my faulty memory would still have insisted they were on different size bodies. Has 40+ yrs been THAT long ago
