Major Announcement Coming from Mego

Joel posted on Ambassadors today that Mego has a major announcement coming. No word as to when. Marty mentioned something about this in an interview I saw a few weeks ago too. My guess is 007, Indiana Jones or Mad Max.

So not long after I read about the upcoming announcement, I saw this:

Does this mean Mego will be out of the Star Trek business by 2022?

1) the announcement has nothing to do with Star Trek.
2) I think the Star Trek license is just being divvied up in the same sense that several companies have the DC Comics characters. I wouldn't take that as a bad sign.

Don’t suppose it could be Mego gets to do their take on GI Joe? Super 7, Mezco, and other companies are all doing figures. Especially if they got made with the new bodies that are coming.

It’ll probably be different scales, and it seems at the moment they’re going in the direction of Jar Jar Abrams/Bad Reboot Star Trek, which up until very differently was a different license than real Star Trek. I don’t know if that changed with the Paramount/Viacom merger or not.

Maybe ‘new’ Battlestar or some Back to the Future characters? Indiana Jones would display great next to the Rocketeer. Like Tom Petty says, the waiting is the hardest part.
