    Monster Madness

I just want to vent a little, and hopefully gain some insight into the distribution angle of Mego products.

None of my local Walmarts are on "The List", and so far no product has suddenly appeared at any of them (electronics section, front of store collectibles area, toy section, or random end caps). My local Targets have no Mego figures at all, except one which still has several Facts & Charlie's displayed on an endcap for regular price of $12.99, despite the well worn cards. And none of our local comic shops carry them (Yep! We still have three of those around us).

For this reason, I pre-ordered several figures from Entertainment Earth, despite the rate increase. I ordered a few Franks, a couple Teen Wolfs, a Drac and an Ultra 7. They shipped the Teens and the Ultra, and placed the Franks & Drac on back order status. This increased my price dramatically as the shipping expense was then doubled, perhaps even to be tripled down the line.

I decided to also give Big Bad Toy Store a shot, since I was given a heads up about the flat rate shipping and the "Pile of Loot" option. I pre-ordered many different figures, some of them in multiples. To date, none of them have left pre-order status on their site even though many of these figures are readily available online elsewhere.

In the meantime, Franks, Brides and Dracs are all over eBay going for decent prices ($18-19 each, shipped in several cases). As such, I ordered several Franks, a Bride, a Drac and a Creeper, all for $18.99 each, shipped. UPS originally had my delivery date as today, but as of this morning it has been delayed until further notice due to "A mechanical failure has delayed delivery. We're working to resolve the problem and deliver your pkg as soon as possible." Just my luck...lol.

A few questions for those who have previously ordered from BBTS: Is this usual for them to be so far behind in the game?; Do they always follow through with their pre-orders, or do orders end up getting canceled because they oversold?

With Entertainment Earth, I'm frustrated with the breaking up of the order. I know they had Franks in stock at some point, because they had some non-mint ones offered up after my Teens & Ultra shipped. I wouldn't think that they would profit from splitting up the orders, but I don't understand the process. I did try calling them, but after 40 minutes of being on hold, I gave up.

    Any insight would be appreciated!

I've been a loyal BBTS customer for over fifteen years. I've spent probably tens of thousands of dollars with them, and they have never once canceled an order. If you ordered from them and you don't have it, it's because THEY don't have it yet.
I have received everything I ever purchased from them, and their collector grade service is beyond incredible. They hand pick the most MOC or MIB they have, make custom plastic bags and boxes on site for EACH carded or boxed item, then double box them again for shipping.

They are simply the best mail order company I have ever dealt with. EVER.

Thank you for sharing your experience, very encouraging. I'm glad that I did not cancel my order with them, it's fairly large for a first experience. I'll continue to be patient with them.

I've frequently used EE because they are local, and I've never had a problem with them until recently. They have changed their shipping process, and if I spend enough on In Stock items to qualify for Free Shipping, it takes 8-10 business days for it to arrive (even though they are only 20 miles away, and unfortunately they are not currently doing Will Call due to Covid). This latest experience of breaking up my order makes me reluctant to do any future pre-orders with them.

I’ve been using ZLC collectibles for my recent Mego orders, and have been very satisfied. Highly recommend them. They ship as soon as their stuff is in stock, and it arrives very quickly. Shipping is $3.99 regardless of how large the order is, which can be great if you’re ordering in bulk.

I second the praise for Big Bad Toy Store. I really get the bulk of my collection from them now and they always been great and never ever had an issue with them in over a decade with them. They ship flat rate like $4 and very easy to cancel a pre-order if you need to and they will not charge your card til item is ready to ship. They have been gettin items in now later then others say like the memos but I don’t don’t mind a bit of a wait, I am not as impulsive to get new stuff right away like I was in my early days.

^ Thank you for your opinion on BBTS, and also for verifying that there does seem to be a longer wait with them for Mego figures...I appreciate that!

Thank you guys! I checked out the site, and it does look like an excellent alternative. It looks like they have quite a bit in stock, even the latest releases, which is great.

I am a BBTS customer too. They are my main place to buy from because of the Pile of Loot. They do get stuff late, and not just Mego, so they are not the place if you want it now, but I am patient these days. Q, Locutus, Willy Wonka and Ultraman are all finally in, but my Funko DMC and JMJ are still waiting for DJ Run to arrive. But when stuff does arrive, I don’t feel bad being impatient and having it shipped because of the flat $4.99 fee. And once shipped, I get my stuff in 2-3 days, well packed using standard grade. Nothing has ever been canceled due to overselling either.

It can be tough seeing other people with new stuff weeks before BBTS gets their stock. But it’s also cool walking into Target, finding something, and easily canceling my BBTS order without penalty, which is also nice because BBTS can have highest costs on many items than other places.
